Rejecting the opinion of countries involved in the Iran talks, which include China, Japan, India and South Korea, as well as the European Union, and unilaterally introducing tougher Iran sanctions would result in cutting off those allies from the U.S. dollar and financial system.

"We would set off extensive financial hemorrhaging, not just in our partner countries but in the United States as well," Lew wrote.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif says Tehran attaches great importance to its relations with neighboring Iraq in all arenas.

“Iran and Iraq have special relations which I hope will be developed and boosted in all areas. The Iraqi government and nation have a special status for us,” Zarif said in a meeting with Rajeh Saber Abboud al-Mousavi, the new Iraqi ambassador to Tehran, on Sunday, Press Tv reports.

Princess DD: Iran unveils first oil project under new model

Iran plans a $2.2 billion development of a field shared with Iraq to produce 50,000 barrels of oil per day, an official says, marking the first introduction of major energy projects under a new contract, Press TV reports.

The Changuleh oilfield, part of the Anaran onshore block, will be developed in two phases to produce 15,000 bpd in the initial stage before raising output to 50,000 bpd, the executor of the project Ali Abbasi Laraki told the Shana news agency Friday.

The field will be introduced when Iran unveils new oil and gas contracts at a London conference planned for December, he added.
