chattels: Masum demands the Iraqi Parliament to keep al-Maliki as his deputy Wednesday, 12 August 2015 10:50 Shafaq News / An informed political source revealed that the President of the Republic , Fuad Masum has demanded the Iraqi Parliament to keep one of his deputies in post.
The Iraqi Parliament has voted yesterday on a reform package presented by Prime Minister , Haider al-Abadi as one of its clauses included dismissing Vice President and Deputies of the Head of the government.
The source told Shafaq News that President , Masum has sent a letter for the presidency of the Parliament to appeal its earlier decision with an alternative, retaining Nuri al-Maliki as vice president.

Citing the latest report from the UN Food Program on the situation in Iraq, Dujarric said, “Our colleagues at the World Food Program (WFP) say that severe shortfall in Iraq has forced to cut down the amount food it provides to close to one million [displaced] people.” The UN spokesperson said that WFP has to make the most of its limited funds.

"Obaidi assured that selecting the security leaders must be based on the proficiency and experience," the statement concluded.

Abdullah said during a press conference today in the parliament building attended by IraqiNews.com, “we have presented the names of the candidates for the post of Army Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, but the latter has not ratified them so far,” and expressed hope “about approving those names during the 20 days.”
Abdullah added that “in the absence of ratification of our candidates for the presidency of this post, we will announce that we are not part of the defense system of Iraq,” indicating that “the position is the share of the Kurds.”
