Friday News Summaries and Commentaries
International credit rating.....internationally recognized....are they one and the same.....I'm thinking not....remember that long waiting line that leads to Article 8......I believe Article 8 will bring about the international recognition that we tend to seek....
Just a thought for those who are "pondering" things today.....great to see your minds churning, it is a healthy process, just stay focused....tonight's opening post may help with that....but I get ahead of myself.
So we see a "B" to "B-" rating, junk at best....but will people/investors buy these bonds....you bet, like hotcakes....they know the BEST is yet to come....
As for much of the rest of the news today it seems to want to breed confusion....but one thing is shining rather strongly today.....getting rid of corruption....the demonstrators want this.....PM Abadi wants this.....the head cleric in Iraq wants this.....
Maliki wants.....to be taken off the list as head corruptor....but not likely to happen in his lifetime.

The parliamentary economic: rising food prices caused by the budget and the collapse of the phantom Iraqi dinar
Food prices on the rise.....is that because of tariffs, those phantom tariffs that don't seem to be put into effect yet.....could the market place be jumping the gun and raising prices in expectation of what is to come.....how in the name of little green apples does all this tie to a budget.....some people reach for gold and all they get is straw....confusion at best....something with which to feed the innocent who are apt to believe anything.
Attorney-Maliki: the government began using strategic inventories to sell the dollar to tackle inflation
They speak of "tackling inflation".....what inflation I might ask.....the last time I remember seeing inflation mentioned at the CBI it was something less than 3%.....we've not seen any indication of any horrendous jumping of their inflation this year....
Right off the bat I question the credibility of such an individual, and I haven't even said anything yet about his name being Maliki.....then he tries to cast a shadow on the budget numbers not being credible.....
I challenge him to look to years past and find any real credibility from the Maliki budgets.....at least for a change there is a real effort to work this budget....despite the fact that Maliki and his clowns dumped a ton of corruption, bad debt, lack of order in the budgetary process, and lack of leadership due to Maliki's cronyism that was rampant.....go find another tree to bark at.
Internal order off the 35 officers in the civil defense on charges of financial and administrative corruption
Corruption seems to be today's buzz word.....Interior Minister is seen here giving the axe to 35 officers from the Civil Defense Directorate on allegations of administrative and financial corruption.....don't play this game....PM Abadi is serious about cleaning up the town, the province, the country of corruption....he means business and your past will not just melt away....it is what it is......pray the courts have mercy upon your wrong-doing....but pay the price of losing your job and all that goes with it.
Abadi announced his commitment to the "guidance" of reference and vows to announce a comprehensive plan for reform
First we see this article from PM Abadi that is calling upon the religious cleric to support the comprehensive plan he has for reformation that includes a serious fight against that "C" word....and I don't mean cardboard.....corruption....specifically in this instance administrative corruption....
He is also seeking solid support from all political entities as he pushes this plan forward....people he is serious about putting an end to corruption in one of the most corrupt countries of the world....applaud this man's tenacity and unwillingness to just follow the status quo.....
He is a leader, that person who is willing to stand at the head of his army and look his adversaries in the eye and not flinch.....I know these words seem to not be pointed in the direction of what you want....but trust me they fit the puzzle...they are a piece of the Article 8 pie.....there is peace to be found here and PM Abadi has the business fortitude to make it happen.
Abadi reaffirms its commitment to the instructions of al-Sistani in reform
I believe from the mouth of Sistani to the ears of PM Abadi....the words have been issued that provide the religious cleric's support for Abadi's plans to eradicate corruption within Iraq....the cleric sees the need for more daring and courageous efforts on Abadi's part.....well back away from the door for I believe it is about to be blown off its hinges by what Abadi has planned....now he wants the backing of the political groups....but I highly suspect with or without their support he is going to move his agenda and plans forward on this subject.
Statement demands of the demonstrators: people will not give up his dignity and his future will not tolerate any more of the promises
The demonstrators....just who are they....government employees.....general population.....attorneys......it matters not who they are....what really matters is what do they want.....they list a number of demands/concerns....but at the end of the day they want corruption to come to an end.....put a stop to the deep pockets of politicians and other leaders.....they want change....change that starts with ousting those leaders who cannot be trusted to act on behalf of the Iraqi people....
But who elected many of these people....the very ones protesting.....so there is a need here to get it right.....and what needs to be corrected is the process, the corrupt process that has been in place for the last 10-12 years....right the wrong and push forward with a new agenda....listen to PM Abadi and give him some room to push his plan forward to deal with the corrupt ways of the past.....there is a new horizon for Iraq....be ready for it....be a part of it.
President of the Bar: next week is the week of corrupt accounting and the first suit will be held regarding the removal of dual nationality of sovereign positions
Looks like next week could be an interesting time....especially for anyone in authority who might happen to hold dual nationality status.....there is a trust issue at hand here.....who do these types actually have an allegiance towards....the powers that be want their leaders to have a single nationality....Iraqi.....if they are to be placed in charge of the future of Iraq and its citizens.
Deputy: There is a great desire among the heads of political blocs and the House of Representatives to pass laws and speed up approval by
A deputy within the National Alliance claims that he believes the heads of the political blocs seek to get laws passed and also to do what is necessary to speed up the law passing process within Parliament and the rest of the government.....no one single source is the guilty party here it falls upon all the shoulders of government and Parliament.
Sistani calls Abadi to be more daring and courage to expel corrupt and implement reforms
Ok I didn't ask you to wait for it earlier.....but here is the message from al-Sistani the religous cleric of Iraq basically giving yet another green light to PM Abadi.....but in doing so he is strongly urging Abadi to exercise more daring and courageous efforts to truly combat the issues surrounding corruption.....kick butt and take names later.....spare no prisoners.....just get the job done and do it as judiciously and expeditiously as possible.
Fitch assigns Iraq a sovereign credit rating
Well there is the big announcement....."B" to "B-"......not the best rating in the world.....but a rating none the less....in fact right slab in the middle of the "junk" rating mix.....though Iraq sits upon a vast sea of oil they have strong issues and concerns in the areas of security and political risk according to this rating house.....but this is a start for them.....a beginning point....and so it would seem a point where they can certainly grow upwards.....
They need to rid themselves of corruption issues, as we've seen rampant in today's news....by rampant I mean the efforts being recognized and planned for corruption eradication.....they need to continue to push DAASH out of its strongholds....and they need to act like a country with a strong government should act.....with professionalism, integrity, and all the other things that PM Abadi espoused when he was being elected that he would bring to the table in the way of changes for his country......
Keep your shoes on and walk tall....keep the baseball bat handy and don't back down from anyone.....yes a "junk" rating....but it is only a beginning.....the BEST is yet to come.
Samir Abbas Alnasiri *: the proposed core pillars of the upcoming five-year plan of the Central Bank of Iraq
This is a very long but well thought out article it would seem......a 5 year plan for the CBI.....it appears to meet all needs.....it is well defined......one of the things it doesn't seem to mention is keeping the government out of the CBI business...but this is a huge step for the CBI to show that it has its act together.....and as with any strategic plan that is written, it is only as good as the practices that are put into play......say what you mean.....but do what you say....follow-through is the key here.

Bahr al-Ulum: in front of al-Abadi golden opportunity to hit corruption
Yet another opportunistic show of support for PM Abadi to take the strongest of leadership roles within Iraq to bring about change with regard to corruption inside the country.....strike while the iron is hot....or forever hold your peace.....Abadi has to see all of this as a huge green light to push his plans and agenda forward and make a difference for his country.
Parliamentary Regions: object to the tariff came because of its application in Kurdistan
Yes the tariffs were enacted and implemented this past Saturday....yes PM Abadi put a hold on the process as of Thursday.....recognizing there is a lack of parity between all border points....especially from within the Kurdistan region.....
This is a one size fits all type of sock here folks....pull up the loose heels and stretch the darn things to fit....it can and should be workable for all points....not just some.....stop with the feet dragging, it only gets the socks dirty and wears holes in them.....no they do no become holy socks at that point.....
Move this important part of your process forward.....what....you don't care for the problems that you encounter at 1166....well there is a simple fix to that too....just move the rate....you know how this works.....don't be afraid.
So ends another summary.....let us watch what the remainder of this day brings and into the weekend as well.....I have a feeling that we have not heard the final story as yet......just a hunch.....a twitch.....but I do know the BEST is yet to come....wait for it.
Aloha Randy
