Secretary-General for Iraq, Jan Kubis, said he is ready to mediate between Erbil and Baghdad to reach a new agreement to resolve issues, an official’s press office said on Sunday (May 29).
The press office of Iraqi Parliament Deputy Speaker Aram Sheikh Mohammad issued a statement on Sunday saying a number of Kurdish representatives in the Iraqi parliament met with Kubis at the U.N. Headquarters in Baghdad.
The Kurdish representatives called on the U.N. to assist Baghdad and Erbil in coming to a new agreement to resolve the issues between both sides. Kubis insisted the United Nations would makes efforts to bring Kurdish and Iraqi officials closer to reaching an agreement, according to the statement.
Relations between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and Baghdad intensified last year after officials from both sides accused each other of failing to abide by the terms of an oil revenue sharing deal struck by officials in December 2014.
Officials from Baghdad and Erbil had signed a revenue sharing deal, under which the KRG would receive 17 percent of the federal budget in exchange for exporting 550,000 barrels of oil per day to the Iraqi State Organization for Marketing Oil (SOMO) at Ceyhan Port in Turkey.
According to the statement, Kubis said the United Nations has increased its efforts to acquire more assistance for the KRG. Kubis added Japan and Kuwait showed readiness to support the Kurdistan Region and Syrian refugees and internally displaced people in the region, the statement said. (NRT)

This "program rate"[5] is used for calculations in the IMF monitoring program and is not a rate imposed on Iraq by the IMF.
