Tootsie: ‹@Lauren305› good assessment! - he is a brave and strong soul for sure. Uphill battle , it is evident he realizes what 'could be' and is willing to fight for his country.

Lauren305: Abadi's diplomatic approach is understandable and has made progress, but it has been slowwwwww progress. Since August we've witnessed the biggest leap forward.

However, without the legal foundation for his proposed reforms, namely constitutional backing of laws and rights, how much change can actually be done. And if he just rams it through, how legal and binding is it? They can always be challenged.. which would just bring further delays.

Lauren305: it is a given that those who have attained power and wealth through corruption and intimidation, will not so easily cede said power and wealth. They will manuever and scheme and plot to maintain the status quo.
~~~
Lauren305: Abadi is a young, small David, using a slingshot against a corrupt and mighty Goliath. We all know the outcome of that ancient battle, and that is what keeps us in the game, believing that Abadi can triumph in the same way.
Tootsie: This applies to Abadi LOL ~ “After all, Ginger Rogers did everything that Fred Astaire did. She just did it backwards and in high heels.” ― Ann Richards (Gov Tx years back) - so, time to boot scoot, have a good one all!!
Donnie: looks like maybe it's one of Maliki's news outlets... why else is his picture in the heading of the website?
Donnie: and... who gave Maliki this title: "First Deputy President of the Republic "??????
Donnie: Source of the above article:
Doug_W: he had a dream
chattels: News releases from Maliki's office refer to him as the VP, but other sources use "Head of the SLC ". Until Maliki's " appeal " is disposed of then we might not know is actual / legal status.
 oldbones67: It's almost like Abadi sacking these goons in news only..Behind closed doors telling them just keep doing your job as if nothing is going to happen...
chattels: Reidar Visser ‏@reidarvisser 32m32 minutes ago Maliki apparently met Croatia defence minister in same office when he was PM http://ift.tt/1KYUGUB... … Still calling himself "1st VP of Iraq"
http://ift.tt/1jceQln
chattels: Visser seems to always say it best :)
chattels: Note : the self serving reference to himself as 1st VP may have significance in the event that the Judiciary determines that Iraq is constitutionally required to have at least ONE VP and the designation of 1st may arguably make him the ONE
chattels: ‹@oldbones67› We hope that Abadi is not just giving " lip service " to the reforms.
Doug_W: amen 2 that "C"
chattels: We all need to remember that Abadi is not an " island " unto himself. He is a " servant " of the Parliament, owes allegiance to his political party and needs it's support and has to deal with Sunni and Kurd interests in order to forge a consensus.
chattels: 10-6-2015 wmawhite When I first got into this investment I was always thinking that this investment was ready to come to fruition. Then as late as a year and a half ago, when we were told by the CBI, GOI and members of Parliament that it was not time for the “Delete The Zeros Project” I thought that they were crazy.
Little did I understand that there was much more to accomplish by the CBI and the GOI. It was as if the pizza had just been put into the oven and we the investors were ready to pull it right out of the oven.
Now I can see the importance of what is taking place today and how critical all of this activity is. Whether it is the restructuring of the banking system, or the Anti Money Laundering Law or the taxes and tariffs, all of these initiatives along with many more are like the toppings of a pizza.
chattels: The foregoing is a breath of fresh air, eh ?
disciple7: ‹@chattels› he always seemed to make sense though.. never seemed to grasp at straws like others.
Stash: yes he is pretty level headed
