Tootsie: Toyota, U.S. clueless about how ISIS got hundreds of brand new pickup trucksBY Meg WagnerNEW YORK DAILY NEWSUpdated: Wednesday, October 7, 2015, 1:08 PM 3 videos ~ hope link works ~ http://ift.tt/1tcYV3K...

Let’s go places — like Syria and Iraq. The U.S. government can’t figure out how ISIS terrorists got their hands on hundreds of brand new Toyota pickup trucks, and the Japanese automaker is stumped, too.
Top U.S. counterterror officials probed the automaker about how the Islamic State acquired a fleet of new cars after souped-up Toyota pickups loaded with weapons and packed with fighters began appearing in its propaganda videos, ABC News reported.“
This is a question we’ve been asking our neighbors,” said Lukman Faily, the Iraqi Ambassador to the United States. “How could these brand new trucks — these four-wheel drives, hundreds of them — where are they coming from?” Toyota told officials it has no idea how ISIS got so many of its vehicles.
The auto giant supports the United States' investigation, said Ed Lewis, Toyota’s director of communications. Lewis said while Toyota has a “strict policy to not sell vehicles to potential purchasers who may use or modify them for paramilitary or terrorist activities,” it cannot track trucks that have been stolen and resold.
Many of the featured cars are older models, he said. The ISIS videos show fighters driving Toyota Hilux pickups, the overseas version of the Tacoma. While some are older, repurposed models, others appear to be brand new. CONTINUES wealthwatch.world/showthr...

chattels: KIRKUK, Kurdistan Region – After more than a year of fighting, it is clear that even after the Peshmerga secure victories and recapture territories, the Kurdish forces are still exposed to the wrath of the Islamic State.
This hard-learned fact was underscored again last week when a sweeping Peshmerga offensive through western Kirkuk province was stopped less than 20 km from the ISIS stronghold of Hawija by one of the jihadists’ most brutal and effective weapons: landmines.
“Our forces face death against the landmines,” said Dr Kemal Kerkuki, a Peshmerga commander on the frontline in west Kirkuk. “ISIS makes them very complex and very dangerous.”
Mines are also a deadly factor in southeastern Kirkuk province, where nearly 6,000 of the explosives have been discovered. General Sirwan Barzani, commander of the Makhmour-Gwer front, said dozens of Peshmerga have died trying to diffuse the bombs.
In fact, Barzani estimates that landmines have caused 75 percent of the Peshmerga deaths on the frontline he holds against ISIS. “They are our biggest problem,” Barzani said.
chattels: The commander admits, however, that his men have been unable to safely navigate the no-man’s land because of the mines, IEDs and other intricate booby-traps built by the terrorists. “In the last offensive, only one person was wounded by gunfire,” Kerkuki said. “The rest were injured or killed by landmines.”
chattels: He added that the lack of sophisticated demining equipment and skilled mine-removal engineers were hurting the Peshmerga. “The landmines are slowing us down,” he said. “Until we can bring in teams to remove them, we have to wait.” chattels: http://ift.tt/1dh0hsK...
