Tuesday News Summaries and Commentaries
As the late great baseball hero Yogi Berra once lamented...."It ain't over until it's over"........so true for Iraq.....they stand hip deep in issues.....they gather the wagons surrounded by bad guys...bad guys from the outside (terrorists) and bad guys from within (corrupt officials).....
But they have someone who can save the day......one who has the expertise and where with all to change the course of things through his skill set and expertise.....make it so.
Iraq is heading to borrow from international institutions after failing to sell Treasury bonds
Iraq is choosing to walk away from selling treasury bonds at this time due to high interest rates tied to them, it would not be in their best interest to head down that road.....but are they seeing this same message from other borrowers as well....borrowers that had open doors to them in the past.....

If this is the case and interest rates are indeed looking rather hideous...what can be the answer as they look ahead into the future, looking into even the budget for 2016 that is on the horizon.....
Well this is just some talk from my back porch that is painted in all maroon, you know Texas Aggie Maroon....but if Dr. S who has silently stepped onto the playing field, an unexpected substitution of sorts for keywords....where is he by the way....oh never mind another story....
If he were to pinch hit in such a capacity that he is so well known for...."taking care of business".....he looks into the stands and he sees great protection there, no matter where he looks it all reads SECURE......
He looks up into the box seats and there sits the Parliament....only way they could get into this historic game was by having all their work done....all their chores completed.....
So the LAWS are in place......he looks over to the stands behind the opposing team and all he can see is black and white stripes....what....you say....yes black and white stripes of the former members of a former government who have all been found guilty of corruption....one sad face stands out from them all, that of Maliki.....
Dr. S turns back to the field looking at the pitcher who fidgets on the mound, seemingly unsure of what to hurl at this new comer....he shakes off two signs from the catcher, and Dr. S hears the catcher whispering under his breath....for the sake of a camel, he's only an old man...throw the rawhide....that was all that was needed.....he sees the wind up....the leg being raised in the air, sweat dripping from the brow of the pitcher caught in the glint of the sun....the ball is coming his way, 90+ mph.....
Dr. S hears the stands sudden quiet as he coils for the swing as he knows this is in the ZONE.....the swing is every bit as good as the last at bat he had in 2012.....the echo from the connection is caught by the crowd as they let out a collective sigh....
As the ball left the sweet spot of the bat it turned fiery red....so hot as it travelled so swiftly higher and higher, far above the dummy program rate of those in the loser's stand going to jail, it sails over the head of the outfielder who stands and watches.....beyond the fence.....the ball is drilled at least 386 feet....but the true shot is only known to Dr. S who had total control of this particular action....
Dr. S....could he be a cousin to so many who stood before him and swatted balls in a similar manner to change the course of the tide.....I would suggest you watch for this.....NATURAL.....to step to the plate in the very near future....for I believe the destiny of Iraq will ride in his hands.....
His effort will connect Iraq to the rest of the world in a way no one expected....with an outcome for all who had the patience that was unbelievable.....to heck with high interest rates....Dr. S is in control and the outcome will be monumental....welcome to my back porch.
Infallible approves labor law
Well it is only one law....but it is a good law that President Masum signed today....providing guarantees for workers throughout Iraq.....he points out that the law is completely constitutional and will ensure financial safety for Iraqi workers....all built upon a strong foundational piece of groundwork that is supported by Parliament and is a huge piece of the reform efforts that Iraq is building upon right now....this covers bases for PM Abadi and Dr. S in a positive and very proactive fashion.
Expert calls on the government to stop the recruitment of 5 to 7 years
We see Dr. Saleh speaking today with regard to the social security system of Iraq and how it relates to assistance from the World Bank.....this new system will take focus away from the bosses getting richer and richer due to overly inflated salaries while nothing goes to the common worker.....things are to be balanced out within the labor force....
Part of the direction that is being addressed is the 5 to 7 years of guaranteed work and instead implement a system that favors PM Abadi's foundational beliefs of working with integrity, being efficient in all efforts, and proving competence in order to maintain the job that one has today.....cut off the gravy train ride that so many have benefited from in the past at the expense of the common citizen....carve out the fat cats that basically were doing nothing and being paid a huge salary for that nothing effort....the buck stops here.
After 3 years .. it opens oil pumping crude oil in Muthanna station
Managing progress one rehabilitated crude oil pumping station at a time.....stations that have the capability to provide electrical power to some areas....and as other stations are returned to operational status as well there will be gas processing facilities coming back on line to refine natural gas for use in power generation, refineries that will again open their pipelines to sell refined gasoline and other products within Iraq so they no longer have to import as much as they do today.
Parliamentary Finance denies that Iraq sought external borrowing
So interest rates are getting to be a big issue for Iraq.....meaning they must turn inward to find the money they need, inward towards their neighbors perhaps....but can they be of assistance.....after all they are similarly located and face many of the same problems related to sharply declining oil prices....none of them have a harvest of "cash trees" the last time I looked.....where else is there to look for Iraq.....well look above at Dr. S as he stands at bat....just one theory.

Jubouri: formation of a committee with the government to sort out the laws that withdrawn from Parliament
Last month the Iraqi Parliament witnessed the COM pulling some 54 draft laws from the Parliament table....why....because they allegedly did not fit the mold for the new reform efforts that exist in Iraq today....these drafts of laws were products of the former government and were in no shape to be addressed by Parliament without first going through significant revisions....so let COM take that effort....well Speaker of Parliament Jubouri is wanting to establish a committee, a joint effort between Parliament and COM to resurrect these drafts so they can get back to the table as quickly as possible for Parliament to address.
General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers looking central bank initiative on loans
In today's weekly meeting of COM a discussion was held concerning the 6 trillion dinar loan effort being pushed forward by the CBI through the participating banks within Iraq.....these loans are aimed at small and medium enterprises who are believed to be the best choices for kick-starting the Iraqi economy and the job force as well.....provide these low interest rate loans in a simplified format that takes guess work and red tape out of the picture for these enterprises....just make sure that from the CBI to the end user all aspects of the process are well managed.
Needing a break....well that is a bad word in our household these days....but you know what I mean.....will keep looking at what we see in the news today.
Aloha Randy
