[tlm724] the World Bank lending to Iraq's refusal to six billion dollars to cover the budget deficit,
[tlm724] no huge bailout for Iraq and as we talked about the other day it is time Iraq stood on it's own and take responsibility for themselves !

[tlm724] I did think about what Toby was saying last week about the AML not being ratified yet by the President. We talked about the penal code for corruption needing to be amended. I remembered years ago reading that the fines for corruption were around 100,000 dinars
[tlm724] now when Saddam was in power, which is when the code was written, a fine that high would be around 1 milllion dollars because the exchange rate was over $3.00 BUT today that fine would be around $100.00 so that shows us that the fine amounts MUST be changed. Do I know for a fact that is the reason for the delay ? Nope but it's my best guess

[tlm724] , this decision came as a prelude to open investment and privatization of these companies through put up for subscription or internal and external investment.
[tlm724] The downsizing and consolidation of these companies is an important step process to find a suitable atmosphere for the start of the privatization process and thus activating the role of investment,
[tlm724] including contributing to the re-production of these factories that once covered a large part of the needs of Iraq
[tlm724] thats a good step indeed ! Getting the investment law passed will be even better and will support this plan !
