BGG News Time Chat 7-20-15  Part 2 of 2

News Time BGG 7/20/15  Part 2 of 2

Welcome to dinarupdates.com for News Time with Millionday!!!

BGG filling in!

diane1: IF THE TARIFFS GO AS PLANNED WOULD THEIR BE SOME KIND OF AN ADJUSTMENT TO THE RATE AND GO INTERNATIONAL, AREN'T TARIFFS MEAN INTERNATIONAL?

ISN'T THE IMF, UST WB AND BAN KI MOON (UN) IN IRAQ TO HELP THIS FIANLLY GET FINISHED. HOW MUCH LONGER CAN IRAQ HOLD OUT, WITHOUT THE IRAQ PEOPLE RIOTING
~~~
BGG diane1: tariffs don't automatically mean international... they could implement the tariffs - leave their currency and let the people fend for themselves - it would be stupid –
 but they could try it... in spite of their own advisors.
It would be a very difficult scenario for the average person. They already have riots over electricity, they almost had riots over the last "dinar scare" and this would be about the same thing - maybe worse...
diane1: who would they get to replace ALak SHABBI MAY BE COUNSELING BUT HE WILL NOT RETURN THEY ONLY ONE I COULD THINK OF SALEH SINCE HE WAS DEPUTY TO SHABBI
BGG diane1: Good question? Turki?? There is no way I would want Saleh... and I highly doubt Shabibi would get anywhere near Iraq.
jd: Why didnt Turkey RV the currency when he had the chance?
BGG jd: the same reason Shabibi didn't get the chance to... Maliki swept in and gobbled up Shabibi and everyone loyal to him at the CBI. I promise it wasn't a "corruption cleansing".... right?!?
BGG jd: after Turki saw that - how far do you think he was willing to go??
jtank: they have tried tariffs before and shut them down too--for a reason--we would think for lack of value w the dinar-thx
BGG jtank: their own advisors have told us as much. So, yes...
BGG jtank: lack of value + tariffs = hard times for the people.
Signman: is the ousting of Zebari a sign of real trouble with the Kurds
BGG Signman: Not at all - he should have never been the MoF - he'll be better in State (if that's where he lands).
BGG Signman: and I will say this - if Chalbibi winds up as MoF - this will probably go QUICK!!
BGG Signman: he heads one of the main Parliamentary committees and he KNOWS WHAT IS UP.
Dances: Whatever became of the Baghdad International Festival?
BGG Dances: IDK - I would suspect after the end of "festivities"...
BGG: off the top of my head.
Pablo: Any news on the credit ratings?
BGG: No such thing - I'm going to scorch that tomorrow... when they have a credit rating it will be heard 'round the world... Kap and I were having a Yuk the first nite that BS came out...
BGG: Could you imagine trying to keep Saleh off the airwaves if they really had a "private credit rating" - like with Moody's or whoever??
BGG: think about it...
BGG: he's like the "town crier"... he'll be hoarse for WEEKS!!
diane1: so how to they get Chalibibi in the hot seat to pull the rv trigger. the iraq people need this, "SO do we for that matter" this week is full of laws to be voted hopefully. do you think we will still be waiting next year?
BGG diane1: today was the first real day of any possibility and according to reports Hakim and Sadr are the sane ones... so relax a minute...
BGG diane1: I don't really think the laws matter that much... the players do... and no - forget us. How can Iraq wait that long??
BGG diane1: Look at it - not from your point of view, your need, your wait - in context, their budget, their income, their situation. How can they??
BGG diane1: it is almost unthinkable.
dale: Any thoughts on what it will finally take to get Maliki out where he can't keep screwing things up. I think you said his appeal was denied in the International Court. I know you said that once he's handled that things could go quickly.
BGG dale: Not sure - just following reports, like you. I didn't say "his appeal" to the ICC was denied... I find it unlikely Maliki would get within 100 miles of an ICC Court - FOR ANYTHING.
He would avoid that like the plague... and yes, were he handled - things will surely move quickly.
da58: How many border crossings are there to Syria that you think would need to be secured to implement the tariffs?
BGG da58: No idea what impact that will have... however, tariffs are more "port oriented" - wrong side of the country. Almost everything they consume is imported. I can't imagine any sane person wanting to travel on the Syria/Iraq border... for any reason, let alone as in "importer"... JMHO.
da58: ahhh - so only the ports... nice. thank you
jackflash101st: Now that the sanctions are lifted in Iran what do you think the chances are of ol maliki seeking asylum there?
BGG jackflash101st: He's toxic - I don't see him escaping anywhere. I could be wrong.
BGG jackflash101st: He is powerful - and wealthy, but his Waterloo cometh.
BGG Good nite everyone. Thanks for tuning in.
BGG Don't Miss MD tomorrow nite for News Time and I'll do a "Straight Talk Radio Call" tomorrow.
