Tuesday News Summaries and Commentaries
Today we see the Iraqi's getting set to "promote" bond sales....international bonds.....will they be in USD or Euros.....personally at this point I don't care.....I'm more interested in when they will try and sell them....this is a closely guarded secret for some reason.....just remember it doesn't happen on our timing.....or because of what we want.....
That is so far out of our control.....realize that and learn to live your life as it is intended to be lived.....help someone out today....maybe that someone is even yourself.....
Life is precious.....don't we all know that.....pray for those in need, lifting them to the Lord for despite all that is going on around us, He is still in control.

GCC oil ministers plan Qatar talks
Over the past several months OPEC and the GCC have kept very quiet with regard to oil prices.....now we see that later this week the GCC will be meeting in Qatar to discuss the future for their nations with regard to oil pricing.....they plan on discussing the potential for unification of "oil products"......meaning gasoline and motor oil and other such main stay products that are derived from crude oil.....
Talk in any direction though will show that the latest price cuts in oil are affecting them all in some very bad ways.....what they need....IMO.....is to stop crying over where oil was and start talking about how they deal with the price of oil today where it is likely to stay for a while.
Ministries to discuss unifying oil products prices in GCC countries
These heads of oil ministries from such strong oil producing nations will be talking about many things that probably will never appear on any agenda....IMO......to get this many heads of such organizations together for such an opportunity and not take advantage of it would be crazy.....don't pay attention to their headline news.....watch what else might be "leaked" from these meetings.
The formation of a government committee to activate the collection of taxes and
Iraq continues to look for options to replace the lost revenues that have disappeared with falling oil prices.....they continue to look towards some form of taxation and are now building committees.....taxation on electricity....the very thing that is so unreliable in Iraq.....probably not the best of ideas.....and water....now water taxation.....oh would that ever bring in revenues.....everyone must have it to survive....and they continue to look at staff salaries as a possible way to raise revenues....cut some of the fat out of the government offices that will create some money.....but what happens to the people you put on the streets.
A member of the parliamentary economy calls for the deletion of zeros and the issuance of Banknotes small to strengthen the dinar
This is coming from a member of the Economic and Investment Committee.....saying that the Iraqi's need to either release the "small notes".....lower denoms....IMO......or direct the CBI to delete the 000's......either would be consistent with their monetary policy.....regardless of these types of steps....the Iraqis need to make a move on the Anti-Money Laundering Law.....their time runs shorter every day to keep themselves from the Black List that they do not want to appear on.....put the teeth into corruption and money washing.
A member of the parliamentary Economy: Central Bank is still subject to item VII and Iraq signed agreements do not apply
This is the exact kind of article that bears almost no means to back up what is being said.....if I were a betting person.....I would venture that we will not see mention of this information again.....why....because it is the opinion of one person....is it wrong for this person to state an opinion such as this....well they are entitled...but it stirs up dust when it can't be substantiated......we will be watching for more on this.....but I would not let this kind of thing get anyone really bent out of shape at this point.
Ihsanoglu: Article 140 is the reason not to raise the coordination between the security forces and the Peshmerga
Baghdad and Arbil need to come to grips on the issues that surround Article 140.....all the issues that surround Article 140.....the land, the people, the Peshmerga, the oil.....all of it.....until then they will continue to squabble and the tug-of-war game will continue with the see-saw efforts between the two entities......resolution with 140 components will bring a great peace between the Kurds and Baghdad.....but who is man enough to make it happen.
Jubouri: Parliament seeks to inter legislation important laws
Speaker of Parliament Jubouri recognizes as many do that Parliament has a number of important laws that await legislation on their part.....they must act....they must move forward if they expect to deal effectively with the demands of the demonstrators and the reforms that are being pushed.....Parliament is an integral part of this puzzle and they MUST do their part to keep the Iraqi head above water.....this is not a time for Parliament to grow stagnant....they must act.
The postponement of the parliamentary session until tomorrow because of the continuing controversy over the National Guard Law
This is exactly the kind of inaction by Parliament that I was talking about just above.....if they run up against a wall with one agenda item, push it aside and move on to other important and pressing matters....such as the Anti-Money Laundering Law....and a whole host of other important pieces of legislation....don't drop the ball by saying you won't meet because of some petty differences between political blocs.....find your focal point and stay with eyes on the ball.
Formation of a committee for the inspection of financial and administrative corruption institutions: surprise visits to "den" corrupt
Government has the intention of keeping an eye on those government entities that choose to move in close circles with organizations that are believed to be responsible for corruption......it would be a wise choice on the part of these entities to keep their hands and their noses clean as they never know when the Integrity Commission is watching their actions.
Iraqi Kurdistan government account at Turkey’s Halkbank empty: official
The Turkish Halk Bank where supposedly the funds from Kurdish oil sales have been going is discovered to be empty of any money for the Kurds account at the bank......they went to the bank last week to make a withdrawal and just now.....just now have discovered the account has been empty for at least four months if not longer.....where is the outcry for these millions of dollars....where is the watchdog over the account to prevent just such action from happening.....this article lacks in alarm IMO.....no concern.....oh sure they wanted the money moved, but it isn't there....no accusations....no finger pointing....what gives with this....something smells in this account.
Iraq to start roadshow Thursday for international bond
Keep on moving folks, no real information here......so they will start advertising on Thursday that they intend to sell international bonds.....still no date of when those sales are likely to happen....they simply are going to be out drumming up potential investors....and the Eurobond thing....IMO....a smokescreen....the bonds will be likely denominated in USD, or most of them will be....maybe a few in Euros but only time will tell us how that will play out and why....numerous articles here all saying the same thing.....we intend to PROMOTE these bonds....that is all.

The judiciary recognizes the existence of "problems" in the money laundering legislative issues
Anti-Money Laundering Law one critical puppy for Iraq at the present time.....get it right and get it pushed through Parliament.....take care of the little issues and get this thing read and voted upon if you know what is good for the country and its people.....put the necessary teeth in the law that will lock up those who are responsible for money laundering activities and be strong enough to deter others from walking down the same road....but the key important issue here today is action....get it done.
Spokesman Abadi: Prime Minister will launch a new package of reforms within days
PM Abadi is said to be ready with yet another round of reforms in the coming days....what will be the agenda this time....who will be appeased......who will be angered by his actions this go-round.....paper being pushed by more paper....
This will grow into a sign of weakness on the part of Abadi if he doesn't start taking some serious action soon.....saying you will do something is nothing.....actions speak so much louder than words.....start moving the mountain......start whipping butt and taking names later.....make your move.
Well time for a break.....digest this and think seriously about all that you see happening......be very wary of what you read for the truth is often hidden on purpose......it is the news media and it is their job to sell their product.....
Just because you see it in news print does not mean there is full and complete truth to be found there......I caution you of this over and over again....some is meant to simply fan the flames....and they do a great job of that at times. Aloha Randy
