Wednesday News Summaries and Commentaries

Trade: Low recording companies during the first half of 2015 because of security and economic crises

The Ministry of Commerce reports that for the first half of 2015 registration of new companies in Iraq was down over the same time period from 2014...this is attributed to issues surrounding security and economic problems that have reared an ugly head within Iraq....

the government meanwhile continues to try and attract businesses to Iraq by waiving fees and customs for a period of five years...with a possible extension of the exemption for 10 years.
~~~
Central: 50 million dinars maximum loan projects .. and repayment period of up to 4 years
The CBI is offering small and medium project loans up to 50 million dinars for a period of 3 years and possibly 4 years.....not a bad deal....get a deck added to the house, or maybe a cement pond...
they are working these kinds of loans as an attempt to kickstart the economy.....the acting governor of the CBI spoke in favor of the loans as they attempt to achieve increased social and economic growth throughout Iraq.
Parliamentary Finance: Do not damaged currency trading affects the Iraqi economy
Hmmmm.....new voices it would seem from the Finance Committee....how interesting...the old damaged goods....the currency that is faded and torn....still spends....imagine that....
plenty of talk today from people outside the CBI offering opinions of what can and can't be done....oh well....what do they know.....Dr. S I am sure wants to tell us more...in good time.
Deputy: the political blocs agreed to pass the largest number of laws in the current legislative term
Well......by doggies....this sounds like a "get 'er done" statement if ever there was any that emanated from Iraq...just gotta remember they don't speak Beverly Hillbillies very fluently......coming period.....or the current session of Parliament meetings we are witnessing.....
let this give way to some decent prosperity efforts on their parts to open up the economy and bring an end to liquidity issues....keep your eye on the target.....stay focused....meanwhile keep pushing those powers out to the regional and local levels.
Maliki: Denunciation of the court for a number of budget materials will contribute to the support of the local currency against the dollar
Oh my is this a Maliki that is sucking up to the CBI and the Federal Supreme Court's decision on Monday to declare Article 50 unconstitutional....
granddaddy Maliki is liable to be squirming in his bed of ice that we have him on at the moment.....what an interesting turn of events with this.
Parliamentary Finance plans to find alternatives to address the paragraphs of the budget Cancel
Now the Finance Committee is saying....well you ruled against us with regard to Article 50...but we have other ways to get around you on this.....these guys never give up.....
Maliki and his thugs will never say die until the last gasp of breath....I'm predicting we will be hearing less and less from these folks as the days wear on thru the summer.....
but for now they try and distract attention by pointing to whatever straw they can grab that "might" be affected by the Federal Supreme Court ruling....at least in their opinion....but then who's listening today.
Iraq expresses its desire to extend the mandate of UNAMI
Foreign Minister Jaafari is seeking to get the UNAMI extended for Iraq for one more year....the current term expires at the end of July.....I'm not seeing this as being a big issue to extend at this point....
as they indicate Iraq continues to work through troubling times both from a war on terrorism as well as economic problems and they can well benefit from the advice and assistance that is offered through the UNAMI cooperative effort from the UN.
A parliamentary committee suggest recovery dinar exchange rate after a judicial decision
There are certainly a bunch of little Maliki's making the news today....interesting....more supportive talk in favor of what the Federal Supreme Court has done this week.....who is sucking up to who.....makes me want to start watching the shadows again very carefully......something is not real clear here in this book....out of the ordinary.
People crowd: the coming hours will reach the outskirts of Mosul
So the People Crowd is approaching Mosul....this must be from the south as the Peshmerga as a ring around the remaining areas of the city......ISIS should be very scared today.....
afraid of their own shadows maybe....don't eat the food.....don't drink the water.....don't travel in packs or caravans.....that just leaves "scatter like cockroaches" because there is a new sheriff coming to town and he carries extra-strength Raid.
20 countries offer grants to Iraq to help it re-build infrastructure
Yes so many countries want to be a part of the process....what process....the process of rebuilding Iraq...the part of the process that by their generosity will also see them making potentially good profits from their own efforts to rebuild Iraq from its war-torn status....hey if they want to share, who is Iraq to turn down the offering.
Parliament precludes re-bills to the government
Excuse me....ahhh....Mr. Speaker......Speaker Jubouri....hello.....COM is asking about a few of the laws....well the drafts of these laws and was wondering....
do you guys have a schedule that you are attempting to maintain or anything.....some of these laws.....well they have been around for a number of years and we would like to see some action.....
not just some occasional bickering you know that was done in the past during the last Speaker's time in Parliament.....
we know you are good friends with PM Abadi and President Masum and you sure seem to speak a common language with them....so can we expect some priority here in the coming Parliament session on these more key laws....
we know we need to put the oil and gas law in your lap....get ready for it....but the others the National Guard law, the Amnesty Law, the Investment Law, even Justice and Accountability....
can you guys please look through your scrolls and see where those are at....they are sort of vital to the MR and the ER....oh if you need to brush up on what that means....
talk to Dr. S over at the CBI he can be very enlightening.....and if you still seem lost....go back and review some Monday Night CC's....they can be so beneficial.
Commission mediates oil to address the problems between Baghdad and Erbil
This is like oil calling oil black......The Oil and Gas Commission within Parliament thinks they can act as a mediator between Baghdad and Erbil.....wondering what the Kurds think of this idea.....
that must be a lot like asking someone to turn over all their email records and then telling their own department to ride herd over the process and make sure all emails are delivered....oh what a laugh.....
but heck if it means progress for the HCL more power to them....when I hear of such talks, why do I often reminisce to the days of the arguments of the size of the table at the Paris Peace Talks back in the '70's.....strange mind I guess.
Reported arrest "Ahmad Al-Maliki" ordered by Abbadi
Well not much to report here.....but what would happen if we simply shortened this to "Reported arrest Al-Maliki" and then just round them all up....I hear there is still room in Lebanon in a certain cell.
This is what he said about the central bank set the dollar sales ceiling
I can just see Dr. S with his head cocked slightly, one hand on or near his chin, smiling rather smugly to the world.....those politicians....they think they know everything and in reality they can't even balance their own checkbooks.....silly rabbits....
the CBI cannot be reined in as though it were some political entity....because it is not....
it must be allowed to work, it must be allowed to make quick decisions and move in one direction today and another direction tomorrow for the sake of the national economy, to bolster the already strong rate of inflation that Iraq has (less than 2%), it cannot be held captive by some crazy idea of a ceiling.....
if anyone thinks there are bad apples in the system...point them out.....bring charges and stop just pointing fingers and making a bunch of noise....no we aren't perfect.....
but our track record is a darn sight better than that of Parliament or the Finance Committee at this point.....remember there is a huge difference in monetary policy versus fiscal policy....we've covered that several times this week already.
Parliamentary Economic warns: deletion of zeros from the currency needed to "force" and "money"!
Opinions and hamburgers sure seem to abound on the streets today....another member of the Economy and Investment Committee voicing his opinion as to why now might not be the time to work on the 000's.....key here....his opinion....
maybe in his little slot of the Economy and Investment Committee he is just not capable of seeing or grasping the entire picture....
highly likely with governments being as compartmentalized as they are these days.....he is entitled to his opinion...but I have serious doubts that we will see it surface elsewhere as some larger force of things to come.
Banker proposes the formation of a program to convert the poor to producers
I see some basis for success with how this person thinks.....provide the poor with the means to become productive....not just give them handouts......
but guide them back toward a productive life and show them they are capable of being contributors again in a way that will benefit them and others.....that is a good step towards recovery and success.
Justice and Accountability Rafidain Bank Manager stopped working and news about "disappearance" of 400 billion dinars
Suspended with pay while an investigation is ongoing....removing the person from any decision making process that could hinder the investigation...makes much sense to me....
especially where 400 billion dinars are alleged to be missing.....not a good sign...would not want to be in that banker's shoes at the moment....this kind of crime is unacceptable and needs to be resolved quickly.
National Alliance (time): Kurdistan delegation to visit Baghdad before Eid to resolve differences
The National Alliance is saying that the Kurds will be sending a delegation to Baghdad prior to Eid to talk further about oil and gas issues and to seek a final resolution....
meanwhile Kurd President Barzani is saying that the Kurds will remain a partner to the Federal government...
seems that Barzani is wanting an agreement to move forward and he is also seeking greater support for the Kurd Peshmerga militia in the form of more arms and ammunition so they may fight the terrorist problems more effectively.
Well needing to take a break here, some interesting news to be shared no doubt......steady as she goes Family....the BEST is yet to come.   Aloha    Randy
