Fourth of July News Summaries and Commentaries

Today the House of Representatives ratified the international conventions and discusses the insurance car accidents and the law of Islamic banks

Well kind of a ho-hum day in Parliament today, yes there was some action but mostly be those pinch hitting it seems....the big guns were kept away from the table yet again....

Iraqi citizens who drive better be looking to Geico to save 15% on their car insurance soon.....on a slightly bigger scale there was a second reading of the Islamic Bank Act....oh be still my heart this was actually submitted by the Finance Committee....aghast I stand....they found something of their job they can really do.....LOL.
....
Iraq planning to issue $11b bonds in 2 months

So first is to come the domestic bonds....then the international big boy bonds...$5 billion in domestics.....$6 billion in internationals.....domestic bonds to mature in one year.....international bonds to mature in 5 years....both intended to provide financial liquidity and be supportive of the economy.

Jubouri calls for a comprehensive and serious reconciliation and warns of prosthetic solutions

Ok so Speaker Jubouri is claiming it is time to not only get serious but to also look at the scope of things from a comprehensive viewpoint....I am believing this is his "Git 'er Done" speech to fellow members of Parliament....stop dinking around and play ball....hard ball.

Parliament Speaker: It is time to resolve the war against Daash

Speaker Jubouri spoke today reiterating the need to finish off the war against DAASH.....stop kicking the can down the road and start lighting the fires and kicking the tires as some old USAF folks used to say.

Parliamentary Economic announce convert most of the ministries and provinces to investment project

Yes indeed the Maliki followers continue to make crow.....but it is time to move the effort forward for those who have an interest in small to medium businesses and receive loans upwards of 10 million dinars from the banks....banks who are getting 5 trillion dinars to the sectoral banks and $1 billion dollars to the private banks in support of these business enterprises.

Iraq is seeking to buy more than 340 thousand tons of gasoline and gas oil

It is so sad that Iraq sits upon such a vast and largely uncharted pool of oil yet they continue to have to import in this case 340 tons of gasoline and gas oil back into the country from other refiners....all because their own refineries can't make the kind of capacity that is needed to fuel the country....and they are willing to take gas oil with a 500 ppm sulfur content....stinky stuff that is.....someone is burning some unhealthy oil somewhere.

General Amnesty Law arrived in the House of Representatives to begin discussing

The Legal Committee has given the Amnesty Law the look-see and basically blessed it but believes it may have some discussion that should go along with it....meaning to me that it won't get passed tomorrow or the next day....but they seem faithful that it will happen soon....so just a few days ago these big boy laws were said to be ready for either a final reading or a vote....what gives....who is zooming who here.....remember Speaker Jubouri is expecting some serious and comprehensive work here, not more delays.

Iraq is about to borrow $ 1.7 billion from the World Bank

The World Bank is looking to dole out a loan worth $1.7 billion dollars to Iraq to help deal with humanitarian aid issues
Deputy for the law reveals the involvement of a judge files corruption caused the loss of $ 2 billion

So some judge has been accused of involvement in corruption files associated with a communications company that stems back to 2012 to the tune of $2 billion dollars.....this is more blabber from the Finance Committee and Rule of Law members....likely Maliki snakes who haven't had heads chopped off just yet.....wait and watch on this to see if it shows up in the news again...doubtful.

House Speaker Discusses with Allawi to coordinate positions on a number of important files

Speaker Jubouri and VP of Iraq Allawi talk about important laws and how they can overcome some serious obstacles in the political process....makes me think of Maliki kind of obstacles....I am liking that they are willing to sit and talk about common resolutions between the two who are from different political factions I believe.

That's about all for now Family....Happy 4th to all.Aloha    Randy
