Tootsie: DNO gets $15 mln payment for Iraqi Kurdistan oil deliveries OSLO,— DNO ASA, the Norwegian oil and gas operator, reported on Tuesday the receipt of USD 15.0 million from the Iraq’s Kurdistan Regional Government as partial payment to DNO and partner Genel Energy plc for May crude oil deliveries to the export market from the Tawke field.
The total invoiced amount for May is USD 39.28 million, of which USD 32.95 million comprises the monthly entitlement and USD 6.34 million is towards the recovery of outstanding receivables for past deliveries.
The payment will be shared pro-rata by DNO and Genel. Tawke production in May averaged 117,757 barrels of oil per day (bopd), of which 114,848 bopd were earmarked for export. DNO ASA is a Norwegian oil and gas operator focused on the Middle East and North Africa.
Founded in 1971 and listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange, the company holds stakes in onshore and offshore licenses at various stages of exploration, development and production in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, Yemen, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Tunisia and Somaliland.

A Kurdish member of the Iraqi parliament has raised concerns over PM Haider al-Abadi’s unilateral decisions to dismiss some government officials, including Kurdish figures, from the Iraqi government. MP Shakhawan Abdullah, member of the Parliamentary Committee for Defense and Security affairs, told BasNews that Abadi dismissed some Kurdish figures from high-rank positions both in the government and army to marginalize Kurds.
He stressed out that the PM has decided on the dismissal of the Kurdish figures unilaterally and without consulting with the Kurds who are a key component in Iraq and, according to the constitution, share 17% of government positions in the country.
In Iraq, the government and army positions are mainly being divided between Kurds, Sunni Arabs and Shi’ites upon political consensus, which is being broken by Abadi, according to the Kurdish MP.
Abadi has been struggling to introduce drastic reforms in his government for the past few months, and he was supposed to establish a “technocrat” cabinet consisting of figures not necessarily affiliated with political parties; however, his attempts have so far made no success.
MP Abdullah believes that Abadi’s decision to remove some high-ranking officials is to keep the Sadrist Movement satisfied about the situation. Influential Shi’ite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr has been leading a large-scale protests in Baghdad for several weeks to push the government into taking immediate action in fighting corruption and improve the welfare of the people.
