chattels: Kirk H. Sowell ‏@UticaRisk 10h10 hours ago Reports coming out of Iraqi media that PM Abadi has decided to use what executive power he has & eliminate remaining Maliki appointees.

chattels: Kirk H. Sowell ‏@UticaRisk 10h10 hours ago Reportedly the range includes intel chief Zuhayr al-Gharbawi, media chief Muh Abd al-Jabbar al-Shabut + several major state bank directors.

chattels: Kirk H. Sowell ‏@UticaRisk 10h10 hours ago The "bank director massacre" is being portrayed as part of anti-corruption/reform drive, but clearly this is broader than that.

chattels: Kirk H. Sowell ‏@UticaRisk 10h10 hours ago Reports of such dismissals are often met quickly by denials when not true; so far I'm not seeing denials. Appears real.

chattels: Kirk H. Sowell ‏@UticaRisk 10h10 hours ago One bad Maliki practice Abadi has retained is unconfirmed appointments. PM appoints heads of all institutions at discretion, no oversight.

chattels: " unconfirmed " is a reference to not being approved by Parliament.

chattels: Kirk H. Sowell ‏@UticaRisk 10h10 hours ago Key assessment in the most recent #InsideIraqiPolitics is that the Fallujah op has reduced pressure on Abadi but political crisis remains.

chattels: I suppose that the optimism is a positive, but I question the realism of such statements. Note that ISF have yet to enter the city.

chattels: ........................." in the coming days " is one of my least favorite Iraqi news phrases.

chattels: " in the coming days " has hardly been an indicator of any immediacy is my historical experience with Iraqi news terminology.

chattels: It seems to be somewhere between now and never.

chattels: The empanelling of a new set of experts on the Federal Supreme Court case is a curious development.

chattels: But it is Iraq and nothing is certain.

chattels: " the court continued to consider a lawsuit to challenge the constitutionality of two sessions of the House of Representatives in April, by holding a third session attended by all parties to the case with the experts commissioned by the court be cast opinions about the meetings."

chattels: " the Federal Court has asked the parties to the suit selection of experts to agree on them, such that the two experts from each party and the fifth chosen by the Court , which postponed the consideration of this case to next Monday approved 13-6 even call new experts ".

chattels: http://ift.tt/1UBQ6gK

chattels: Despite assurances from various political blocs that the decision of the high court will be respected, such bickering over the the report of the first set of experts does not bode well for ultimate acceptance of the court's decision, IMO.

chattels: It does appear from the first report of experts that there was not a quorum for the parliamentary session dismissing Jubourri, Hamoudi and Mohammed ( President and Vice Presidents of Parliament, respectively ), but they were unable to determine the number of voters on the dismissal and naming ministers in the Abadi cabinet reform.
