millionday: The Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Finance and Economy announced on Saturday (June 18) that Peshmerga forces will receive their overdue salaries for the month of May on Sunday and Monday.

The ministry began distributing the salaries of Peshmerga forces on Thursday (June 16). The salaries of the 70th and 80th units of Peshmerga forces have yet to be paid.
The manager of Ashti Bank confirmed the news to NRT and said the Ministry of Finance and Economy will resume issuing salaries to Peshmerga who have not yet been paid.

millionday: The Kurdistan Region’s Committee for Ending the Financial Crisis reached a decision on Thursday (June 9) to distribute salaries to all the region’s ministries, following a meeting held by the committee.
The Committee for Ending the Financial Crisis and the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) cabinet of ministries held meetings to discuss the current situation in the Kurdistan Region.
Both sides met on Thursday to deliberate and seek a solution to the economic crisis the region is facing.

The global slump in oil prices, fight against the IS and an influx of Syrian refugees and displaced Iraqis have added more pressure on the KRG’s economy.
