An official source in the Sadr movement, on Tuesday, that the reason for the exit cleric Moqtada al-Sadr from Karbala meeting angry is the insistence of the National Alliance leaders to grace the Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi six months to implement the reform and change minister.

The source told / balances News / "The chest request of the National Alliance and the city of Karbala Abadi during a meeting to identify and clarify the mechanism of ministerial reform and switch."
The source, who preferred not to be named, said: "The National Alliance leaders asked the chest grace Abadi six months to carry out reforms and make a cabinet reshuffle and then later to hold demonstrations," noting that "it angered the chest and came out of the meeting without any agreement."
He pointed out that "the head of state law, Nuri al-Maliki was present in Karbala, for the purpose of attending the meeting, however, al-Sadr refused to participate."

Tlar: I am sure that it is Maliki who is pressing for more time. Sadr is pissed and I don't blame him. We have no idea whether or not Abadi agreed.
My guess is he did not or would not agree because this above anything else leaves him and his government vulnerable. We will have to wait until we get and affirmative either. Tlar
Abadi resign from the SOL not the DAWA. PS I don't think Sadr is pissed. He is acting out doing his part IMO, pressurizing everybody and everything with threats. Just like when al-Sistani ordered everyone in the government to resign. Abadi sacromonially offered to resign but is still there isn't he.
This is intimidating the NA to get out of the way of the reforms. Without Sadr rebel rousing, it would be business as usual, stalling and doing nothing.
Its working because of Sadr and I think any threats that are thrown at Abadi is to pretend that Sadr is a mad man and wants this done quickly or he will sick the people on his own lists of corrupt politicians going straight to their houses and pulling them out..
If Sadr was really against Abadi, he would not give him any time at all. He would tell him to resign also. IMO Sadr has a part to do in this and is doing a good job. So any yelling at Abadi is an important part of this play to make it look like there are no sacred cows intentionally.
That way Abadi can tell the crooks that he has no choice but to save Iraq by getting this done as quickly as possible meeting Sadr's demands before Sadr does something stupid. Risky plan? Yes.
But how else can they get this done with Maliki's tentacles throughout the government including the courts. Notice all the accusations being leveled? The corrupt are all getting nervous. Stay and maybe face the people and the courts or leave. Tlar

tlar: Believe it or not he is trying to tone the crowds down in an attempt not to accidently get them to riot which means out of Sadr's control. An unarmed sit in to last until the reforms are in place is terrific if he can pull this off. The biggest fear I have is not coming from Sadr or the crowds that are participating in this.
It is from the corrupt (Maliki) placing his stooges in these crowds trying to turn this ugly. Right now Maliki cannot count on the popular crowd to follow any orders from him because they have been told both by al-sistani and Iran that they answer to Abadi only.
So far that is exactly what they are doing even if doing it belligerently as in Badr. But there are no guaranties that if Maliki can infiltrate these sit ins with guys intent on turning them ugly that, that the popular crowd won't come in if asked by Maliki to save Iraq.
Maliki has close ties to both Ameri and Badr who by the way are both corrupt and at some time must be dealt with. They don't like having to answer to Abadi and they have both been asked to stand down from taking part in the Mosel invasion.
They also have close ties to Iran, so to me it will be interesting to see what happens. This is why I have stated earlier that speed is of the essence. Abadi's government is vulnerable as it sits now and this is a crucial time to quickly get this done.
If as I suspected that this plan has originated from outside of Iraq, then they must be aware of all the potential scenarios. Sadr can only play this bluff for so long before it becomes obvious. His one act play can't go on forever. Hope they have thought through them and can pull this off. Tlar
