7:12 AM ADMIN Baghdad/ Iraq TradeLink: Kurdish Parliamentary bloc's MP Najeeba Najeeb disclosed here that "the Kurdish region is trying to borrow from the World Bank to pay the delayed salaries of its officials and to minimize the impact of the financial crisis in the region".
In a press statement, she pointed that the Kurdish region has a "legitimate" share in the World Bank loans, because "it is part of Iraq".
She added that the Kurdish region started contacts, but "could leave the matter if the federal government will pay the salaries and abide by the oil agreement".
Earlier, the Kurdish region asked Baghdad to have a share in its loans, in the light of the financial crisis in Iraq due to the decline in international oil prices.
