chattels: Kurdish MPs say they welcome Jabouri in Sulaimani and may hold talks with him but they are far from moving back to Baghdad any time soon.

chattels: ...................... Sunni MPs are not ready to return to the parliament either "until they are reassured of their safety."

Doug_W: can't blame them 4 that

chattels: He once fought U.S. troops. Now Moqtada al-Sadr is battling Iraq’s political system. By Loveday Morris May 6 at 4:37 PM http://ift.tt/1ZwLooG

chattels: A day after his supporters packed up and left their short-lived sit-in, Sadr got on a plane and left for Iran. Five days later, he has still not returned, and before his departure, he had announced a two-month spiritual retreat. His supporters have remained stoic.

chattels: Abadi was already seen as a weak leader, and Sadr’s actions have undermined him further, with members of parliament incensed by the breach of their fortified inner sanctum. As he attempts to regain control, and credibility, he has pledged to prevent another breach and fired the head of Green Zone security, who kissed Sadr’s hand as the cleric entered the area in March.

chattels: But the Sadrists have promised to escalate and call for the prime minister’s resignation if a new technocratic government is not created. With parliament splintered, even getting enough members together to hold a session and vote will be a challenge.

The Kurds are refusing to attend, while a group of rebel parliamentarians refuse to recognize the legitimacy of the speaker. Just how long Sadr will wait before ratcheting up pressure remains to be seen.

chattels: Iraqi security forces gain ground around Fallujah By Rudaw http://ift.tt/24Gm2vu

Today’s gains will help them in their campaign to seize control over the city center. After the conclusion of the Ramadi offensive, the joint Iraqi forces began a complex operation to liberate Fallujah, one of the most important positions for ISIS in Anbar.

chattels: 250 Special Forces Troops Cannot Defeat ISIS By Paul Davis http://ift.tt/1ZwLooJ

chattels: I am sorry to say that 250 troops are not a good start, 25,000 would be a good start. Leadership needs to look at the big picture and not just take action that may look good on the home front but accomplishes nothing but put soldiers’ lives in danger.

waldowould: There is an old saying....opinions are like a##holes and everyone has one....Quoting from outside opinions needs to have a factual basis and not sure if I would believe everything that is written

chattels: ‹@waldowould› What are " inside " opinions ? Anonymous guru contacts ? Bovine scatology !

chattels: The better perspective reads voluminously, allows for the possibility, but balances against probability.

chattels: I have another saying, some people try to be " smart arses ", but end up being just " arseholes ".

chattels: BASHIR VILLAGE - An agreement between the Shiite militia (Hashd al Shabi) and Kurdish Peshmerga on Sunday officially ceded control of Bashir village south of Kirkuk to the Shiite militia.

chattels: The agreement stipulates that within three months most of the Shiite militia will pull out and the police will take charge of security. Kurdish Peshmerga forces who have taken position around the village have made it a condition that the Shiite militia will leave the Kirkuk area in three months.
