Friday News Summaries and Commentaries

The Iraqi government lifted the roof of banking transactions for citizens

The Iraqi government lifted the ceiling on withdrawals for Iraqi citizens on Thursday....for years it had been capped at 25 million dinars....but now it is set at 100 million dinars....

I'll bet that made 2 or 3 Iraqis dance in the streets....that might be Maliki and a couple of henchmen who have more than that in their bank accounts.....

Oh sorry their money is held outside the country in some anonymous accounts.....apparently these are procedural transactions for employees of government departments....they also announced that the Trade Bank of Iraq will be permitted to open lines of credit with private Iraqi banks....there appears to be a lessening of banking restrictions for many.

....
We killed half of ISIL leaders in Iraq, says US Ambassador

This is unnecessary boasting in my opinion.....and where would there be proof of such action....I could think of a dozen better headlines to try and tie the air strike capabilities of the International Coalition to the successes of the Iraqi Security Forces....but instead let us take the credit.....this is not....oh never mind.

Parliamentary Finance: tariff law will be applied in all the northern and southern ports

So will the tariff laws be implemented across the board.....at all border entry points.....I'm sure Basra will have all eye trained on what happens up north to determine which way they intend to go....they announced yesterday they would not go this alone....and who is making all this tariff noise....why the Finance Committee of course.....the mouthpiece for all of Iraqi politics.....IMO.

Kurdish lawmaker: Talk about Article 140 may be fueling the general situation

Any talks associated with Article 140 today could be adding fuel to the fire with regard to pushing the terrorists out of Iraq....meanwhile the Kurds announced last year in a rather concrete way that with the entry of Kurdish Peshmerga into many areas of dispute after the Iraqi Army fled in the face of DAASH threats....that the Kurds now had once again regained control over those areas formerly disputed....basically working on the assumption that possession is 9/10's of the law.....

However, they must still deal with the Baghdad government on the issue whenever it becomes apparent that it will be raised....the Kurds definitely feel as though they have followed constitutional guidelines, but I am sure other Iraqi's might have a different opinion on the matter.

Parliamentary Finance describe the allegations of some officials that the state treasury empty as "tendentious"

Yet again the Finance Committee is making more noise.....attempting now to rebut statements made by other Parliament members that the Treasury is bankrupt....the Finance Committee wishes everyone to believe there is a wealth of financial reserves....as well as much in the way of natural resources.....yes to both....but the reserves they speak of can't be touched....they are in the possession of the CBI....and the natural resources....well they must be plucked from the ground....and that takes money and time....something the Iraqis are a bit short of on both accounts today.

Supreme authority calls for politicians to abandon the spirit of rivalry and say, you all are responsible for Iraq out of this crisis expanded

The supreme religious cleric is insisting that political rivalry be dropped and everyone grab hands and do the hokey-pokey together......ok not...but they do need to work in unison to push Iraq out of the crisis they currently stand quagmired in.....listen to this authority....he truly has the best interests of most if not all Iraqis in his message to all politically oriented forces.

Iraqi Finance: You will not see a lean years

Within the Ministry of Finance there is noise that even while Iraq suffers from significantly lower oil prices....they are not in a position of despair....they can and will overcome what they face.....again they mention the emergency loan from the IMF for upwards of $700 million dollars....and $5 billion dollars in bonds.....talk talk talk....show us the beef....or the money in this case....in due time they say....in due time....in the near future.
Deputy for the national forces: Parliament canceled a vacation for the month of May amid efforts to pass important laws

Vacation....who needs one...we have important laws to pass...the granddaddy of them all...the Oil and Gas Law.....the National Guard Law....can this be done in a month....the month of May....would seem there will be a need for a whole bunch of meetings to pull this off....better get started while there is still daylight in April.

Sources: Iraq of companies to download Basrah heavy starting from May

SOMO is announcing the availability of Basra heavy crude for sale.....in addition to their light sweet crude.....the heavier crude will sell for something less than the sweet crude sells for because it requires more refining....thus not as much is made per barrel from it....they appear to be sitting on 30 million barrels of the stuff....probably some really nasty stuff that can't be blended with the lighter sweet crude to make it pass as lighter crude....often known as the "bottoms".....and it is also often "sour" crude thus making it worth less yet.

Hillary Clinton has friends from Baghdad more than it has in any US city

Well my day has now been brightened....not....very odd that Hillary has more buddies in the ME than in other cities around the world.....Baghdad specifically.....watch where those campaign dollars come from....maybe she owns a "whales" worth of IQD that will soon fund her war chest for this campaign....I'd best shut up before I say way more than I should on this subject.

Security forces controlled the center of Ramadi

The Iraqi Security Forces are making headway in Ramadi the capital of Anbar and have regained control of the center of the city.....this has been a successful week for them.

Islamic Bank denies embezzling seven billion

The Iraqi Islamic Bank is denying all claims and allegations that one of their directors embezzled some seven billion dinars from the bank.....they claim this individual has been upstanding as a bank representative since 2011 and remains a trusted employee to this day.

It's that time of day again.....got to strike while Frank is wet....in the shower.....grab what cookies we can.....don't forget the crumbs too....I'll put on a fresh pot of coffee too......oh I mean Keurig....pick your flavor.....quick while the water still runs.   Aloha    Randy
