OOTW: NATO TO SEND 4,000 TROOPS TO BORDER WITH RUSSIA – REPORT Posted on April 30, 2016 by fightingtyranny NATO is deploying an additional four battalions of 4,000 troops in Poland and the three Baltic States, according to a report citing US Deputy Secretary of Defense Robert Work.

Work confirmed the number of troops to be sent to the border with Russia, The Wall Street Journal reports. He said the reason for the deployment is Russia’s multiple snap military exercises near the Baltics States.

“The Russians have been doing a lot of snap exercises right up against the borders, with a lot of troops,” Work said as cited by the Wall Street Journal. “From our perspective, we could argue this is extraordinarily provocative behavior.”

In April 2013 the Baathist Naqshibandi group was able to provoke Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki to send the Iraqi Security Forces (ISF) to attack the Hawija protest site in southern Kirkuk governorate.

Immediately afterward other demonstration areas talked about taking up arms against the government, and there was a wave of violence by all the major militant groups. Security steadily deteriorated over the next year culminating in the fall of Mosul in 2014. The Hawija raid then was the moment the Iraqi militants began operating out in the open once again after their nadir following the U.S. Surge.

chattels: “I generally believe it is ungovernable under the current construct,” said Ali Khedery, an American former official in Iraq who served as an aide to several ambassadors and generals.

chattels: Mr. Khedery said that a confederacy or a partition of Iraq might be the only remedy for the country’s troubles. He called it “an imperfect solution for an imperfect world.”

chattels: Mr. Khedery is now a sharp critic of American policy in Iraq, saying it has consistently ignored the realities of the country’s underlying political problems. Iraq, he said, “is a violent, dysfunctional marriage, and we keep pouring American lives and dollars into it, hoping for a miracle. We should instead seek to broker an amicable separation or divorce that results in self-determination for Iraq’s fractious communities.”

chattels: Mr. Biden has worked to promote Iraqi unity, despite his proposal a decade ago to divide Iraq into thirds. But in comments on Thursday to American diplomatic and military personnel in Baghdad, he harked back to that proposal. “Think of all the places we are today trying to keep the peace,” he said.

“All the places we’ve sent you guys and women. They’re places where, because of history, we’ve drawn artificial lines, creating artificial states made up of totally distinct ethnic, religious, cultural groups, and said: ‘Have at it. Live together.’ ”

 chattels: http://ift.tt/1O51XCe;
chattels: After a series of suicide bombings in these areas, which targeted Shiite Muslim mosques, Qais al-Khazali, the leader of one of Iraq’s more controversial Shiite Muslim militias, noted that it was more important to secure these areas than fighting for the distant northern city of Mosul.

“The Islamic State is using the city’s outskirts as camps, housing hundreds of fighters and suicide bombers and to make car bombs,” al-Khazali said during a television interview. “The Islamic State has started to return to the outskirts of Baghdad after being defeated around Anbar province,” says Hassan Mohsen al-Saadi, an MP affiliated with the Shiite Muslim Badr bloc in Parliament.

chattels: “The Islamic State group wants to threaten Baghdad and in doing so, cause the Iraqi security forces and the volunteer militias to retreat to Baghdad, leaving more distant fronts uncontested.”

chattels: Really the biggest problem in the Baghdad belt is the same as the country’s biggest problem: Sectarian antipathy. The Sunni Muslim locals don’t trust the Shiite Muslim security forces and vice versa. More local security forces – that is, those native to the Sunni Muslim neighbourhoods – are not seen as trustworthy as some of them are known to have collaborated with the IS group.

chattels: Some Shiite Muslim militias in these areas have managed to keep areas secure but they have achieved this mostly by using force. There have also been injustices and violations in the area – which is why the security that is imposed can only ever be temporary.

As soon as the security forces with draw – as some of them did last month when the Iraqi government stopped paying their salaries – then the extremist groups reappear.

chattels: Thus the repetitive rhetoric regarding " national reconciliation " and political inclusiveness and stability.

Doug_W: etc etc etc Ad infinitum.....

Thunderhawk:  Backdoc Alert

China’s yuan fixing by PBOC jumps most since 2005

China's central bank guided the yuan higher at the sharpest pace since 2005 on Friday in a move analysts attributed to the dollar's weakness against major currencies.

The central bank, the People's Bank of China (PBOC), set the midpoint of the yuan trading band against the dollar at 6.4589, down 0.56 percent compared with the previous fix at 6.4954.

That's the biggest change since 2005, when China removed its peg to the dollar.
The pair was trading at 6.4743 midday Friday, compared with Thursday's close 6.4779.
The PBOC allows the yuan spot rate to rise or fall a maximum of 2 percent against the official fixing rate, which is set daily.

The cause of the jump in the yuan's level may be driven by forces outside China. The dollar index, which measures the dollar against a basket of currencies, has fallen 1.7 percent this week. The Japanese yen, in particular, has risen sharply against the greenback.

"Blame the Bank of Japan (BOJ)," said Patrick Bennett, a foreign-exchange strategist at CIBC. He noted that China now manages the renminbi against a trade-weighted basket of currencies. The BOJ's surprise decision Thursday to sit pat on policy caused the yen, one of the basket's components, to surge. The yen composes nearly 15 percent of the currency basket.

The euro, which makes up more than 20 percent of the basket, has also climbed this week, tacking on as much as 1.56 percent against the dollar.

Others pointed to recent U.S. gross domestic product (GDP) data and the U.S. Federal Reserve's post-meeting statement earlier this week.

"Today's strong fixing is triggered by the less upbeat U.S. GDP data after the Fed did not signal a rate hike in June," Iris Pang, senior economist for Greater China at Natixis, said in a note Friday. "We believe that the central bank is doing this intentionally as if the yuan is just one of the major currencies in the world, [it's move] should align with those currencies."

Advance figures for GDP in the first quarter showed the economy grew by a less-than-expected 0.5 percent, compared with expectations for 0.7 percent. The Fed's statement opted for caution, holding rates steady amid the apparent economic slowdown.
Many market participants had expected the BOJ would ease further after its surprise decision at the end of January to shift to a negative interest rate policy largely failed to spur bank lending, weaken the yen or boost economic activity.

Since the end of January, the yen has climbed, with the dollar fetching 107.30 yen midday Friday, down from levels over 120 yen before the BOJ's policy change.

The rise in the mainland's currency marks a sharp reversal from expectations near the beginning of the year, when traders were betting on further declines in the currency. The yuan has strengthened to trade near levels it touched in December of last year.

In August of last year, China shifted the market mechanism for setting its daily fixing, saying it would set the spot rate based on the previous day's closing, theoretically allowing market forces to play a greater role in its direction. That resulted in an effective 2 percent devaluation in the currency, a move which sparked fears of a "currency war" to make Chinese exports more competitive.

U.S. Puts China, Japan on New Watch List for FX Practices

The U.S. put economies including China, Japan and Germany on a new currency watch list, saying their foreign-exchange practices bear close monitoring to gauge whether they provide an unfair trade advantage over America.

The inaugural list also includes South Korea and Taiwan, the Treasury Department said Friday in a revamped version of its semi-annual report on the foreign-exchange policies of major U.S. trading partners. The five economies met two of the three criteria used to judge unfair practices under a February law that seeks to enforce U.S. trade interests. Meeting all three would trigger action by the president to enter discussions with the country and seek potential penalties.  Read More At:

Thunderhawk:  Backdoc Alert

It sounds crazy, but 'sell in May and go away' is good advice

Rhyming couplets can rarely be expected to serve as sound investment advice. But "sell in May and go away" may be a prominent exception.

"This old saying was proposed in the past … and it actually wasn't looked at until probably the late '90s. We looked at it, and indeed, it is persistent and it's economically just as strong as it was then," University of Miami associate professor Michael Fuerst told CNBC's "Trading Nation" this week.

Fuerst, along with fellow University of Miami professors Sandro Andrade and Vidhi Chhaochharia, reported in a 2012 paper that stock returns were 10 percent higher in the November-to-April half of the year than in the May-to-October period.

Importantly, this result isn't solely based on historical American stock returns. In that case, the academics could be making the all-too-common mistake of "proving" an adage by using the same evidence that was used to bring about that line of thinking.

Rather, they examined returns across 37 markets within a 14-year time period that was not tested in a prior paper that also found support for the sell in May effect.

In each of those 37 markets, returns in the May-to-October period were found to be smaller than those in the November-to-April period. The sample size here is relatively small, but by pooling the data, the authors were able to show statistical significance.
"This out-of-sample persistence indicates that the effect is enduring and not a statistical fluke," the authors conclude.

So what's the best way to capitalize on this effect?

Well, the problem with actually selling in May is that one is well-served by maintaining exposure to a full year's worth of equity returns. The approach Fuerst would suggest, then, is to double one's market exposure in the November-to-April period, and then simply hold Treasury bonds in the other period of time. By doing this, an investor could expect to outperform the market by a significant measure, Fuerst says.

Incidentally, the question of why this effect actually exists remains an open one.

Thunderhawk:  Banking cooperation biggest challenge in Iran-Indonesia ties: Envoy

Iran's Ambassador to Indonesia Valliollah Mohammadi-Nasrabadi described implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) as a suitable opportunity for promoting mutual cooperation, saying that banking cooperation is the biggest challenge to bilateral ties.

While touring the Indonesian daily 'Republica', Mohammadi-Nasrabadi added that removal of international sanctions against Iran prompted Iran to follow up economic cooperation with other countries seriously.

He further noted that the Iranian and Indonesian nations have positive attitude towards each other.

Pointing to exemplary capacities of the two countries for boosting mutual ties in different fields, Iranian ambassador said that lifting anti-Iran sanctions has provided a suitable chance for bolstering cooperation and Tehran is ready for expanding economic relations with Indonesia.

Iranians are interested in Indonesian goods, he said, noting that paper, palm oil, textiles, coffee and cacao are among Indonesian exports to Iran.

Iran is also ready to have cooperation with Indonesia in electricity industry, oil and gas, renewable energies, highway construction and infrastructure projects, Mohammdi said.
Describing lack of banking relations between the two countries as the major challenge in the face of boosting bilateral ties, he said that Iran has so far dispatched several banking delegations to the country to help establish bilateral banking ties.

In 2011, volume of trade between the two countries exceeded to two billion dollars which fell to lower levels due to the sanctions, Mohammadi said, hoping that the exchanges will soon be raised to the previous levels.  Red More At:

Ambassador Pham Quang Vinh delivered a speech themed “Vietnam and the US in the 21st century: A new beginning” while attending the Vietnam War Summit at the Lyndon Baines Johnson Presidential Library in Austin, Texas, on April 28 (local time).

Currently, Vietnam is the ASEAN nation with the biggest number of students (19,000) in the US. More than 500,000 US tourists came to the Southeast Asian country last year.

In his speech, the Ambassador also asked the US to recognise Vietnam’s market economy status and fully lift the ban on weapon sales to his country, which will be a favourable background for the upcoming visit to Vietnam by President Barack Obama.

The Vietnam War Summit from April 26 – 28 is to shed light on the war, its lessons and legacy. It was attended by some 5,000 people, including politicians, war veterans, researchers, and representatives of anti-war organisations and movements. US State Secretary John Kerry also gave a keynote address at the event.

Thunderhawk:  China to Lend Over $6Bln for Russia's Moscow-Kazan High Speed Rail

China has agreed to provide a 400 billion-ruble ($6.2 billion) loan for Russia's Moscow–Kazan High-Speed Rail Project, the Russian Railways company said Friday.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, a Russian-Chinese working group on high-speed railway cooperation met in Beijing. Russian and Chinese delegations were led by Russian Railways First Vice-President Alexander Misharin and China Railway Vice General Manager Huang Min respectively, according to Russian Railways.

"The Chinese side will provide a financial loan equivalent to 250 billion rubles for the Moscow-Nizhny Novgorod section and an amount equivalent to 150 billion rubles for the Nizhny Novgorod-Kazan section. The sides discussed possibilities of financing the project in US dollars and in yuan," the company said in a statement.

In late March, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich attended the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA), where he invited Chinese business to take part in the implementation of high-speed rail projects in Russia, including the Moscow–Kazan railway and a high-speed railway between Samara and Tolyatti.

The project will be implemented as a public-private partnership through a concession, while the key points of the concession agreement are set to be agreed on by the end of the year.
As part of the agreement, China will also provide 53 billion rubles in equity financing, the statement added.

Moscow–Kazan High-Speed Rail Project was first proposed by Misharin in 2009, arguing that the project will spur innovation and increase population mobility. In 2013, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the decision to go ahead with the project. China expressed initial interest in 2014, proposing for the project to become the initial stage of connecting Moscow and Beijing, with a view of extending it further into Europe, eventually reaching London

Frank mentioned Dinosaurs. There are a few things hopefully becoming extinct, namely ISIS and this corrupt GOI system in Iraq, (and perhaps the fiat currency system as well.)

We are seeing gains in the fight against ISIS in Iraq. Their money has been hit. Their IED stockpile, their leaders, their snipers are targeted, and the areas they once held are being liberated. Many different troops are fighting under one Army - another reference made by Frank with the camouflage tree, IMO, referring to the Kurds, Sunni, Coalition forces and Iraqi Army.

Step by step there is progress on the ground
.
Frank mentioned that his Team Chat notes could have been longer. Perhaps this implies that there is more supporting evidence and data for the Teams' analysis.

Frank concludes his video analysis with showing the Hawaii Firework flower. Frank is certainly saying that in his opinion he has more than enough data to conclude the CBI is going to raise the rate of their currency.

He is stating that he believes there is finally going to be stability in the GOI. Making ISIS extinct, getting a stable government, replacing the CBI Governor, raising the rate, will finally allow this rich in resources nation take off in 3,2,1.

Tlar & Member Maliki Discussion

Post From Currency Chatter 4-30-16
Tlar & Member Maliki Discussion

hi-five:   Blue, after reading your link,  I thought this info deserved a thread of it's own.

Go to this link and take a look at this complaint by the National Center for Legal and Judicial Research and Studies against Maliki.  They list every corrupt, dispicable, and horrific thing Maliki has ever commiitted against the people of Iraq.  I hope this gets some traction in Iraq.

Charges have been levied against Maliki before and there didn't seem to be an appropriate back lash.    With the exception of Maliki's mafia members, no Iraqi citizen should show any support for Maliki whatsoever!   In fact, the citizens should rise up against him demanding Maliki's arrest and trial - - not stopping until Maliki is in chains!

http://ift.tt/1ExLcP7

vision:     Unbelivable .... but sadly true... thanks blue , hi5
~~~
Brule:    When Abadi stated two days ago that he would prosecute Maliki after the new ministers were seated, Rcookie posted this document (16 pages) immediately, reminding us of the depth and severity of the charges, and relieving fears that Maliki would not be prosecuted or could slip through charges.
Also reminding people that the judicial changes need to be completed so Maliki does not slip through a judge's robe and out the back door.  Now this factual document is surfacing all over Dinarland.  What a pumper Rcookie is.
Father of Thunder:     Yep......the real deal!
Revenuerog:      Wow I just read that whole thing.... Maliki is screwed
rissas dad:           Love this document, read it to a friend joyously over the phone last year. Unfortunately this document surfaced jan 2015. Maliki is screwed, when i dont know. Should have been already, but sadly has not. Maybe this time he will. Dont understand why someone hasnt given him a dirt nap already.
HandOverFist:   I remember seeing this document last year also. I don't understand why nothing has ever been done about Maliki, considering that they have 16 pages of charges. I have not heard that Abadi said he would prosecute after ministers were seated.
Wouldn't such an announcement by Abadi be "asking for trouble" from Maliki. Better not to make an announcement and just do it.
 DreamWeaver:   Abadi patiently waiting until 3 VP positions dissolved--after technocrat shuffle complete--before going after Maliki.  So ... no immunity.  No where to run.
No doubt, Abadi's intention ever since announcing reforms last year was to dissolve VPs, arrest Maliki, and continue reforms; but reforms got stalled.  That's why arrest warrant and no arrest.  Needed to get everyone on board for reforms to oust Maliki.  Clever.
Danny's thoughts about Maliki "necktie" party may be just around the corner.  LOL.  Good one, Danny.
JD Blue:   First, it;s not my link... it is all over, and when I get anything of interest....
I share it here. None of us own the news... and the analysis is often helpful..even if sometimes mistakes are made.  Yes.. it is all about timing.
They getting a lot of the detail work  done...more to folllow.. and one day.. they will spring the trap.  Until then.. we wait.
That said.. I truly think Maliki has crossed a line now...and this last week... using LEGAL TACTICS... and CONSTITUTIONAL MEANS...I truly think they broke Maliki's Iron Grip..and Nouri may be sliding downhill, unable to get any more traction.   We shall see!
Schízz:     complaint filed against maliki, whaaat?!the guy literally done a coup de etat couple of years ago and the cock knobber is still in government.
you know, they reckon life began in iraq, possibly true apart from the ones that migrated.... evolved.
everything isn't bs made up m news, the tool still is causing havoc in iraq, until they remove him from any kind of power and remove his head this country is a joke.
hope the imf can do something for these clowns. they don't deserve anything, if i wasnt invested i would not want them to succeed.  pathetic undeserving morons.!
really tired of the ole guru stuff where if the news doesnt suit us it must be all lies....it aint folks. we're waiting on a bunch of clowns!... and yes it is as pathetic as it seems. trsut me, i have friends over there and they tell me the same!
Mike:    lol, ditto, Schiz.  This document has been out for over a year, it's a stretch to think that prosecuting Maliki is going to happen any time soon, which prompted my comment about pumping.  Why am I sure that a full effort for prosectuing Maliki is going to take some time?
Because you need one specific branch of the government to cooperate and do what's right.  The Judiciary branch. The reforms the Iraqi's are working on are all part of the Legislative branch, they have nothing to do with the Judiciary.  Until Mahmood is successfully removed, I don't see any meaningful and successful prosecution of Maliki happening anytime soon.
That's not negative either, that would intimate that my comments are emotional and that's not accurate.
The experience of watching these guys closely for five years is what's shaping my comments, not my feelings. I'm not going to "pump" sunshine to anyone and tell you Maliki's prosecution is imminent until something relevant changes.  In the end, it's just an opinion though, right?
JD Blue:    I respectfully disagree. With everything we are seeing today. there is DEFINITE change happening.... one way or another. Things are NO LONGER STATIC. Protestors storming the Green Zone. invading the parliament building... standing out side Maliki's Palace screaming you cant live here anymore... Maliki himself issueing a statment denying he is trying to get back into a seat in Parliament.   I mean.. seriously... things are changing.
hi-five:     Mike, I wonder if you could explain this statement you made.  I'm not sure that anyone posting was saying that Maliki was going to be prosecuted "soon".  I've read through this thread and am wondering where this statement belongs.
Mike:     "This document has been out for over a year, it's a stretch to think that prosecuting Maliki is going to happen any time soon, which prompted my comment about pumping."
Tlar:    Mike I agree totally with what you are saying.  The corrupt must be removed from government first before we will see any action against Maliki.  All the while Maliki will be fighting to stop the change.
The process is gaining momentum though and I hope the new government of technocrats will be seated next week.  Once that is done it will be easier to pick of the corrupt one at a time.
The Judicial would be my next target and as long as the 180 ish mp's hang together, Maliki's protective brick wall should start to unravel  one brick at a time.  I still expect to see a mass exit at some point of the leaders of the SOL as they see the writing on the wall.
This freight train is at full speed and change is almost there.  What is the flipping point is anybody’s guess but I am sure we are close.  Sadr needs to pick up the pace but his position is also tenuous.
 He has to make sure that the demonstrators remain passive and at the same time threatening because if the demonstrators get out of hand and actually do something stupid it could cause a civil war.
Many of the leaders of the militia are corrupt and they might be looking for a way to cause anarchy in which case everything up to now will be negated with shootings and killing in the street.
I would not be surprised if this wasn't already on Maliki's play list as a last resort.  In other words he would send some of his 6000 personal army to infiltrate the demonstrators and do something stupid like shoot or hang a minister to start a riot.  If the demonstrations get out of hand, Katy bar the door.  tlar
Mike:    Again, thanks, hi-five. You asked a question without insulting anyone and I respect that, I only wish more could follow your civil example.  Here's where I got the idea from RC's post that a prosecution of Maliki was "soon"
lots shaping up for the next few days - whether or not they finalize the New Abadi Cabinet...there have been an amazing number of judicial and political defeats handed to Maliki.
Were those charges against Maliki published this week not STUNNING??   and this:
BECAUSE AFTER COMPLETING CABINET RESHUFFLE....HE IS OPENING MALIKI CORRUPTION FILES!!!!!!!
There's a slew of exclamation marks and it's clear that RC believes Maliki's demise is imminent or soon. Or at least that's the way he's stated it. He's intimiating that once Abadi get's the cabinet done, he's going after Maliki.  My thoughts are that even after they get the cabinet reset Abadi is still going to have to reform the Judiciary. My thoughts are that's not happening "soon."
 This report wasn't created by anyone in the Iraqi government, these guys aren't part of the prosecuting team that would go after Maliki, this is they're opening statement in the document;
"Request to Process Complaint: The National Center for Legal and Judicial Research and Studies, an Iraqi non-governmental organization registered according to the law, and as represented herein by its Secretary-General, the former Judge Raheem Hassan Al Igeeli, and by its Deputy-Secretary-General, the Attorney Kamel El Hassani"
These folks have no standing in the Iraqi government or it's legal process, they've filed a formal complaint with the GOI and have stuffed it with facts about Maliki's atrocities, but that's all it is, a formal, legal complaint. If I had a nickel for every complaint lodged against Maliki, I wouldn't be watching the dinar, I'd be rich already. Going after Maliki is going to require the cooperation of the judiciary, in my opinion.
Mike:     Tlar, Yep, Katy bar the door, or better yet, get out of the Green Zone.  I would agree, this could be part of Maliki's playbook, destabilize the government and step in with his own militia to restore order and "save" the people of Iraq. The Green Zone has always been a buffer between the people of Iraq and their elite leadership, but that buffer is gone now.
JD Blue:     And yep, Tlar. I loved what you wrote. I also pray that the 180 quorum can move forward and they do it ASAP... legaly and within constitutional means... because Sadr seems to be losing his control of the citizens... they are fed up. Either way... CHANGE has arrived... even though some just keep posting "same old, same old"
They either change soon... or the arab spring will do it for them. And none of us knows what that will look like
JD Blue:    G-lin posted this in the other thread..it shows that Sadr seems to be attempting to slow the roll... it goes to the point I was just making...the change is happening...maybe even faster than they hope or expect.
SteveI at People's Dinar Saturday PM 4-30-16
People's Dinar:
SteveI   I called a few people I know...Here is what I have been told.
They are close to controlling Mosul, that is why the US sent 200 Marines to help rap thing up.
VP Biden also went over there to help the PM straighten out his cabinet mess. No one was getting along so he cleaned house and now bringing in new people.
This should be done in a short amount of time.
So between Mosul and the cabinet, once those two tasks have been completed, you should see some major changes quickly.
And the other good thing, I just got off the phone with Ray, and one of his contacts at the bank is still ready and waiting for the currency to change.
Nothing negative has changed so to me that was huge news.
The Calm Before the Coming Global Storm
Major turbulence seems to be the name of the game in 2016. Yet the current turbulence may be interpreted as the calm before the next, devastating geopolitical/financial storm. Let’s review the current state of play via the dilemmas afflicting the House of Saud, the EU and BRICS members Russia, Brazil and China.
Oil and the House of Saud
Not many people are familiar with the Baltic Dry Index. Yet the Index is key to track commodity demand. Two months ago, it was trading to all-time lows. Since then, it has increased over 130%. Precious metals prices have all moved higher in virtually all currencies. Why is this important? Because it tells us that faith in fiat currencies – the US dollar especially — is sharply declining.
The Baltic Index rise portends a rise in oil demand in Asia – especially China. Falling supply and rising demand for oil will likely drive up the price of the barrel of oil in the second half of 2016.
That does not mean that the House of Saud will win back the trust of both the US and Russia. Deep sources keep confirming that as far as Washington and Moscow are concerned, the House of Saud is expendable. Both are really energy independent (should the US want to be). Powerful Washington factions blatantly accuse Riyadh of “terror” – well, it’s way more complicated – while Moscow regards the House of Saud as following US orders to destroy Russia in an oil price war.
Ailing – on the way to dementia — King Salman and young Warrior Prince Mohammed would be finished if those famous 28 pages about 9/11 were released and the Saudi connection is incontrovertible. What next? Regime change. A CIA coup. A “trusted” Saudi military CIA asset elevated to power.
What’s left for the House of Saud is to play for time. High up in Riyadh the feeling is that relations with Washington won’t improve while Obama is president; the next president — whether Hillary or The Donald – will be a much better deal. So Plan A for now is to keep posing as essential to Washington in the “war on terra”; that means King Salman falling back on Mohammed bin Nayef, the Crown Prince, way more adept at it than the Warrior Prince, the conductor of the disastrous war on Yemen.
In parallel, Turkey’s Sultan Erdogan keeps advancing his play to take over oil in Iraqi Kurdistan, eventually diverting the whole supply to make Turkey energy independent – and thus a regional superpower.
Moreover, in Pipelineistan terms, Erdogan absolutely also needs the Qatar gas pipeline through Saudi Arabia and Syria to gain energy independence from Russia. That also happens to be a major US goal. And that also portends perennial trouble for the Syria peace process.
Erdogan already has the German superpower at his feet in the shape of a groveling, begging Chancellor Merkel. Were Turkey on its way to become an energy power, Merkel would prostrate herself on that Ankara palace golden ground non-stop. The CIA intimates as much, when it analyzes how Turkey will keep “expanding its influence” in Iraq through the militias they support, at the expense of Iraq's security and political unity.
Andrew Bacevich’s America’s War for the Greater Middle East examines how Washington ruled that “military preponderance” across the Middle East should be the strategic objective in a war against the USSR — that was when Dr. Zbig “Grand Chessboard” Brzezinski reigned as geopolitical supremo. This was always supposed to be an endless war – now encompassing the “Greater Middle East” the neocons are so fond of.
Russia, Brazil and Hybrid War
Russia's largest commodity exchange is actively courting international oil traders to join its emerging futures market. The goals are crystal clear; to disconnect the price-setting mechanism from the Brent oil benchmark and, crucially, to move away from the petrodollar. That also happens to be a key condition imposed by Beijing to the House of Saud for continuing to buy their oil.
It’s easy to forget that it was only 20 years ago that Moscow wanted to join the West as Christians, and was treated like trash. Russia was perceived in the Beltway to be weak under Yeltsin, who let in looters who ate up Russia as locusts, collapsing Russia’s GDP by 40% as they drew out natural resources, absconding with at least a trillion US dollars.
Now Exceptionalistan keeps updating every trick in the book to destroy or at least undermine Russia with Maidan in Ukraine, an oil price war, attacks on the ruble, Syrian pipelines. Hybrid, unconventional warfare rules – and these will only get nastier. The BRICS as a whole are under siege. The Brazilian color revolution, set up as a soft regime change process, is just the first stage in a new, sophisticated Hybrid War strategy bound to be studied in academia for decades.
As oil demand soars and supply contracts, Hybrid War practitioners across the spectrum will have to create a recession to keep the chaos going. A possible scenario is to let the embattled Italian banking system go down; that’s the next frontier in the EU.
Walking Dead Europe, meanwhile, subcontracted and/or externalized a policy of refugee repression, thus unleashing the largest mass deportation since WWII, complete with camps financed by EU taxpayers and managed by the Great Democrat Erdogan. The missing link is now in the open; everything is proceeding under control of NATO-linked think tanks.
As appalling as it may be, this is hardly new. It was already inbuilt in agreements that the EU imposes on African nations, “upgrading” their status to border Cerberuses. That’s the key mission of the Frontex agency, which is progressively delocalizing the external borders of the EU – to the east and to the south – to better repel migrants. Not a dot connected to NATO’s neo-imperial wars of choice, of course.
No wonder Noam Chomsky has noted that support for formal democracy in the West is dwindling, because they are not real democracies.
All major decisions affecting the EU are taken by unelected eurocrats in Brussels.
In a groundbreaking book published in Spain, Mercado-Estado-Carcel en la Democracia Neoliberal Espanola (Anthropos), Daniel Jimenez, doctor in Juridical Sociology at the University of Zaragoza, details how the new institutional local order is about de-democratization, denationalization and dependency; NATO, IMF, World Bank, the Paris club, BCE, the European Commission, the Fed, they are part of a global web of institutions, private but self-described as public or public but managed by private interests (such as the Fed). Michael Hudson, among others, has detailed how the EU never developed sustained mechanisms of transfer of capital from the wealthier economies towards poorer members.
I’m a mess without my China fix
Sophisticated Hybrid War-derived techniques may have been deployed full blast against Russia and Brazil. But against China, everything fizzles.
Exceptionalistan’s spin is that China is not as economically secure as it seems. So global public opinion is bombarded by the usual litany of “convulsions in its financial markets”, “investor risk aversion”, “volatility”, or an inevitable crash.
Nonsense. The leadership in Beijing has its strategic imperatives fully delineated in the latest Five-Year-Plan. It will pump whatever amount of credit into the system whenever it takes. It won’t depreciate the yuan – no matter how loud Washington/New York complain.
A yuan devaluation would sink an array of Chinese firms loaded up on US dollar debt. Moreover, Beijing is tweaking its system, a carefully calibrated transition from an export-driven model to one geared toward consumption by the internal market.
A strong yuan preserves the purchasing power of tens of millions of members of the New Chinese Middle Class – all of them upwardly mobile, and all of them asset owners.
According to the US Treasury, only about $1.2 trillion in liquid securities is in Chinese hands. And that will keep diminishing, fast – as China keeps buying gold. And to top it off, China has already turned its economy around. That brings us back to that dramatic increase in the Baltic Index. Oil prices are rising. And China is buying the whole lot.
Beijing is advancing on all fronts; spreading influence/commercial deals all across Eurasia, which the New Silk Roads will shape into a mass emporium; modernizing its military; buying strategic foreign assets; building up global trust in the yuan as a stable reserve currency; allowing Chinese elites to diversify their enormous wealth by buying foreign assets, from vineyards in Bordeaux to the odd football giant, such as AC Milan.
No wonder the astonishing spread of Chinese economic power has left assorted Exceptionalists – from neocons to neoliberalcons — totally deranged.
Washington has absolutely nothing to offer to nations across Asia, Africa and Latin America – to the whole Global South for that matter.
They have all seen how Beijing is not in the market demanding Mob-style compound interest on sovereign debt; “support” for neo-imperial moves by NATO or the UN; one more extra-territorial hub for the US Empire of Bases; or total domination of their central banks.
On the other hand, they have seen what Washington does offer; endless war; the progressive smashing of the nation state; democracy blasted to smithereens; and technocratic governance by the 0.00001%.
Yet all this is just the calm before the storm. The Empire is already striking back. There’s serious blood on the tracks ahead.
News, and Opinions From KTFA Members Saturday AM 4-30-16
KTFA:
Upstart:  Anti-corruption protesters storm Baghdad’s Green Zone, enter parliament – reports
Hundreds of supporters of influential Iraqi Shiite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr, who have been protesting corruption, have stormed Baghdad’s Green Zone. Some have entered the parliament buildings, according to Reuters.Link:
Walkingstick:  Urgent Sadrist movement demanding his followers and protesters to vacate Parliament immediately
Demanded that the leaders of the Sadrist movement followed the demonstrators who stormed into the House ofRepresentatives, the parliament building to evacuate Fora..itba
....
SupremeDalek:  I have to admit that this was not what I was expecting to hear today.
Walkingstick:  Urgent .. close the entrances to Baghdad in full
Saturday 30-04-2016
Twilight News / announced the leadership of Baghdad operations for the full closure of the entrances to the capital, Baghdad, in the wake of the entry of protesters to the Iraqi parliament.
 A spokesman for the Baghdad Operations Saad Maan stated in an interview for Twilight News, the entrances to the capital completely shut down, and only allowed out of it.
Hundreds of protesters entered the followers of the Sadrist movement Mahnsh Green Zone, and then to the parliament hall.
He announced the cleric Moqtada al-Sadr on Saturday rejected the ministerial change conducted by the parliament and the government, as announced boycott the political process in the event of the continuation of the quota system, waved to drop the current government headed by Haider Abadi, because if they remained corrupt, as he put it started
Islandg1211:  Let's not let a good emergency go to waste. Closure. Troops.
SupremeDalek:  This is getting ridiculous.
This only proves what Frank has said all along and that is that "All Hell Will Break Loose" ...... perhaps that's what's needed here now.
I was wondering why al-Sadr had gone quiet.  I only hope that these corrupt ministers get caught by these folks storming the gates. I want to see blood ........ Enough is enough.
************
Walkingstick:  Use discretion....  Many, conflicting / dramatic and pure (bull) articles being released... e.g: US embassy under siege, US forces evacuated Albadi and cabinet members, CBI under siege... to name, a few..
PowerofPrayer:  Good morning Family,
After all the fantastical news coming out of Iraq, it made me think of the following:
THE HEGELIAN DIALECTIC  -
PROBLEM (Purposefully created
REACTION (A given, obvious logical need for change)
SOLUTION (A solution that has already been in the works before the "PROBLEM" even started)
In my opinion,
PROBLEM - Need to implement change that the Iraqis feel as needed. Corruption, all parties guilty, need to be removed .
REACTION - The people of Iraq have had enough, they protest, storm the Green Zone, demand change or else.
SOLUTION - Abadi removes, re-shuffles, implements Technocratic government.  People will accept the solution because its  better that what they currently have and the people believe that they affected the and made possible the change.
Why is it important for you to understand the subject of the Hegelian Dialectic? Because it is the process by which all change is being accomplished in society today. More importantly, it is the tool that the globalists are utilizing to manipulate the minds of the average American to accept that change, where ordinarily they would refuse it.
The Hegelian Dialectic is, in short, the critical process by which the ruling elite create a problem, anticipating in advance the reaction that the population will have to the given crisis, and thus conditioning the people that a change is needed.
When the population is properly conditioned, the desired agenda of the ruling elite is presented as the solution. The solution isn't intended to solve the problem, but rather to serve as the basis for a new problem or exacerbate the existing one.
When the newly inflamed difficulty reaches the boiling point of a crisis, it becomes the foundation upon which arguments may again be made for change.
Hence, the process is repeated, over and over, moving society toward whatever end the planners have in mind.
It's also important to understand that as this process is being driven, arguments are created both for and against certain measures of change.
All arguments are controlled. The presented solutions — each with varying levels of unadornment — are "debated" publicly by the manipulators or their minions. This is done until a perceived compromise has been reached on the best measure to take in route to solving the crisis. Then, the outcome of the "debate" — which purportedly weighs the concerns of the public with the mandate to do something — is enacted as public policy.
Such is a summary of the Hegelian Dialectic. Though few in American society have ever heard of it, still fewer have not been profoundly impacted by its use in the effective neutralization of opposition in the formation of public policy.  Powerofprayer
Islandg1211:  Excellent Post and exactly on point today.
This OK Corral situation prompted the shutdowns and troops, and may be setting up Abadi to declare a state of emergency which would give him the Constitional right to act as he sees fit. He could appoint the rest of his cabinet. With the troops in Baghdad, making more arrests, namely Maliki's safer. Let's be patient this weekend and see how things unfold.
***********
SupremeDalek:  Sometimes people say that "In order for things to get better, they have to get worse".
I believe that this is what we're witnessing today.  I have to admit that this even caught me by surprise as this was not what I was expecting.
I believe that this is what Frank was trying to tell us.  Changes will be made but we had to hit bottom first and, in my opinion, I believe that we may have just hit bottom this weekend.
This is insane.  Never a dull moment.
***********
Txmmsgirl:  With all the GREAT and positive news that we've been getting from Frank, WS, and all of the teams...I see the closing of Baghdad as a good thing.  I think the rats/cockroaches are trying to run from their finality.  Now, given my Texas country ways...I've always found it easier to catch a varmint with the gates closed and the pen secured.  Happy hunting...
************
Supreme dalek:  By the looks of things so far, this seems to have been a peaceful uprising.  I just hope that Abadi does what he needs to do because these bad apples have to go and, if they stay, we'll only continue to get more of the same.
Abadi needs to make an example of Maliki once and for all.  I say "Get them now" - while they're on the run !
***********
ReddStarr:  Family, I usually don't start posting until after 12 because of my schedule. But due to the amount of news coming out this morning,
I just wanted to drop in & say a couple of things. One, don't allow negative news articles to distract you from the bigger picture.
We know from the past that most articles released are to cause confusion. In time the truth will find its way through. Two, there is a plan, always has been, nothing is going to stop that. Remember the GOI/CBI are two different entities.
Think about that. Last thing, take it to prayer. Talk to y'all soon.
