BGG & Members Newstime 11-1-15

News Time with BGG 11/01/15

BGG: OK - gonna' need some help from our News Hounds - you are welcome to jump in anytime...

BGG: Welcome to News Time at DinarUpdates.com (and Thank You for being here).

BGG: also - I'll keep it open for questions - (might turn into more of a Q & A)...
 BGG: and nothing is off the table. Ask away.

BGG: What was the biggest News of the day??
 BGG: News Hounds??

jtank: truck scales?

maine: in my opinion the biggest news of the day was the Amnesty Law
maine: they getting ready to act on it
 ~~~
BGG: OK - I just read the agenda for Parliament tomorrow
BGG: which doesn't mean much since they didn't give us any heads up before the voted on the Investment Law...
BGG: and I guess now that I think about it - Abadi never really promised a "new" Investment Law - just an Investment Law.
BGG: or a better Investment Law (when he was here)...
BGG: However, here was an interesting bit - in the published agenda...
BGG: Ninth: The second reading of a bill defining the mandates of the three presidencies. (Legal Committee). (Article 8).
BGG: which tells me - PLAINLY - they are moving ahead with reforms - at full speed.
BGG: what does this do?? It seals off a Maliki third term... should he somehow evade all the pitfalls between here and there - term limits would effectively kill any chance he would have for a third term as PM.
Pablo: Does it fire him as a VP?
maine: his position as VP has been eliminated i believe
BGG: not that I think he will survive (politically) that long - but should he, they are limiting all terms now. Had they done THIS ONE THING long ago - there would have been no ISIS. No Anbar... no crisis - Maliki would have had no option... or big need to reshuffle the voting electorate/districts...
BGG: which was at the very heart of where we are now.
 BGG Pablo: no - not directly. He's already been fired - now is just the final challenges to it...
 BGG maine: correct
jd: When does Maliki leave the palace?
BGG jd: probably once his last challenge is exhausted or they are coming to arrest him.
Hutch: On the Maliki subject, Whats the latest on his judge buddy Mahmoud?
BGG Hutch: nothing new - he was reportedly going to resign effective this month.
Hutch: I thought I read at the first of the month
BGG Hutch: We can hope.
BGG rcookie: that is a big step towards reconciliation with the Sunnis...
rcookie: HAS BEEN BEING TWEAKED FOR OVER A MONTH
rcookie: IT WAS DESCRIBED AS THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP N ACHIEVING NATIONAL RECONCILIATION PROCESS!!
rcookie: "the most important step to achieve the national reconciliation project," pointing out that "the law does not stray far from the government's reform campaign which coincided Parliament to initiate it."
vision2: Where did that article come from stating that the dinar had revalued?
BGG vision2: that was likely from a News Feed out of North Africa - maybe Somalia - going by the context of most of the other articles. Hard to say (BTW, that would explain the good grammar and English syntax - proper English is spoken there) - however, just like I said earlier... I don't believe it... (and I plainly made notation on the piece). When this happens for real - it will be everywhere - PDQ!!
BGG vision2: (actually - "the Queens English" - with a British accent - ask me how I know that )
BGG rcookie: actually - as I read thru - that probably is the big news of the day...
rcookie: ANOTHER...Relations: Iraq enjoys a comfortable cash reserve of cash foreign currency
November 1, 2015 0
The Central Bank Governor stressed the agency that Iraq still enjoys a comfortable reserve of foreign currency.
Allaq said in a press statement obtained by the news that the Iraq economy agency owns the reserve currency, what will avoid falling into severe economic crisis, or inability of the State to provide salaries and cover projects ", pointing out that" Iraq reserves estimated at more than 1, 500 percent. "
The Central Bank Governor said that the subject of the deletion of zeros from the currency, will be security and administrative stability can the State control over markets, and to impose the standard pricing of goods.
BGG rcookie: Amensty Law being worked on (actually worked on) and the term limits Law being read the second time - which BTW, passed with a "super-majority" the first time...
BGG rcookie: then was challenged by Maliki as "unconstitutional" due to the way it was introduced to Parliament...
maine: wont both go at the same time? dong and iqd
BGG maine: I doubt it - two different scenarios...
BGG maine: even if they both go in the same time-frame - they are different situations.
maine: what is the rumor of the value of the dong?
BGG maine: no comment.
Pablo: I noticed in the chat log you folks were talking about news of the Dong going this week. Is that a rumor as well?
BGG Pablo: I would take that as rumor (for sure)...
BGG rcookie: back to you rcookie - you were on a roll!!
BGG rcookie: SLC seems to be the one to loose the most soon...
BGG rcookie: stands to reason they are the least happy about it...
BGG rcookie: howvever - doesn't this new "salary deal" really impact the MP's pay - like by half??
rcookie: AGREED ...HANGING ALL ON SALARY SCALE SCARE TACTICS
rcookie: YES AND JABOURI CALLING FOR ACURATE ASSESSMENT AS TO LEVELS ACTUALLY IMPACTED
rcookie: 3 UPPER SALARY GRADES MOST AFFECTED
BGG wvchsr: that is an rcookie question.
